It doesn't matter

actually, i was going to say the opposite. that people who choose not to abort are selfish. the reason being, that it seems easier to watch someone esle suffer than choose to suffer ourselves.

what i mean is, choosing not to abort would bring suffering of that horrible decision on the parents. or they could go through with the pregnancy free of the guilt of abortion, because the child had a miniscule chance of not suffering as much. THAT seems to be tinged with selfishness.

now, i'm not saying it is a wrong decision, just a selfish one.

and it should be clear, too, that the question applies for foreknowledge of cf, and does not imply that those who do have cf don't have anything to offer, just that most of us would choose not to have it.

Chris,

Why did you remove your post? I think it was a good venue for conversation about the issue.

I hope Chris wasnt feeling "attacked" because not all of us felt offended. Or maybe she felt "silly" for being offended when most who responded didnt feel that way. No matter what her reasoning I also agree that it was a good venue and am sorry to see the post removed.

Hi

Just felt I had to say...my children have definitely NOT suffered from CF (check out their ages!!). My oldest has been in hospital a few times, my second once. They rarely get sick, and have led a 'normal' life.

Granted, this is not everyone's story, but most of the people posting on this site are over twenty (wcf), and a lot seem pretty healthy from what I can gather.

I also want to add that a decision not to abort is not about guilt over abortion, but about the sanctity of life...that's what it's about for me anyhow...I believe that life begins at conception, not at birth.

Hope this quote thing works this time...

CF or No CF - having raised two teenagers I personnaly believe there should be retroactive abortion until age 18! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"></end quote></div>

great comment! Thanks for adding some humor.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I agree with others who think this was a really "civilized" thread. It was interesting to see people are sharing opinions without criticism or drama.

I appreciate that.
