When our lungs get overinflated, it makes our chests/ribcage get disproportionately large. So our torso literally looks like a box instead of slanting gradually inward to our stomach... and if you look at someone from the side, their chest will sometimes even be bigger front to back than their arms. If you saw it, you'd recognize it.
