Night sweats

OK guys. Saw the doc today (thank you all for giving me a sense of urgency....).

They are testing me for myco....but they tested last December and nothing showed up. So we'll see.... I guess the test takes 6 weeks to get results. Super.

A new fellow at the clinic was doing the typical push on my stomach everywhere and the right side near my hip kinda hurt. That's usually where I get intestinal blockages but I guess the doc wanted to check things out with an ultrasound. (btw i have no idea if this is related to night sweats or not). Guess the ultrasound showed weird waves so I'm going to radiology for something on Monday. GOOD TIMES.

The doc kinda dismissed the diabetes factor as well as the sleep apnea factor. At the time I was focusing more on this weird lump on my right side so I didn't push for a sleep test or another OGTT. My OGTT is due in June so maybe I'll just do it early to see what comes up

Thank you all again for your ideas! I am so grateful!!!!!

when you get your home glucose meter do the following: measure before you eat, then eat and set a timer to ring every 20 minutes for 2 hours and chart your numbers so that you have a 'curve' - it will give you the truth on whats happening with the sugars and you can also see how fast they come down after you have eaten. Try 2 or 3 different days and different meals. When i caught tuberculosis I had the night sweats (think thats also myco?), but the low sugar sweating is different...I almost want to say 'you'll KNOW when its low sugar' - you'll feel weak and shaky. good luck, let us know

It's good you got all those checked out so quickly. Yes, getting results back on the mycobacteria cultures take at least 6 weeks to grow b/c it's a slow growing bug. I hope that's not what you have, but I wouldn't worry about it until you have to cross that bridge. There are several different kinds of mycos, I have MAC, which you've heard me talk about a lot. Once you have it, it's yours, but there's treatment. Mine is one of the slowest growing ones, and other types grow a bit faster for your reference. Again, I would not worry about a myco until the test says you have it. I'm still betting your symptoms are just from stress or something simple.

Night sweats are one of the symptoms of having mycobacterias (I get them too sometimes), but many things can cause night sweats.

Keep us posted Amy. I'm sticking with that it's simple stress for you.
