OVERWEIGHT MOM

Count me IN! Great idea!!!!!

I have always had a weight problem...either overweight...or under. I have a hypothyroid and it caused total havoc on my body during both pregnancies! It would always be VERY under active while pregnant and I would gain VERY easily. (I'm sure the constant craving for sweets didn't help either...LOL!)

I had been really into working out and being healthy before and after the kids were born, but once Ethan was diagnosed...I just didn't care anymore. I wanted something to comfort me...so....food did the trick. Plus, I didn't take my thyroid medicine and so, with both of those...I gained 30 lbs right after his diagnosis. Plus, I hadn't even lost the pregnance weight.

So...again...I'm alllll for it! I've been taking my medicine for about 2 months now (like a good girl) and have lost 17 lbs....and that's without much dieting or exercise! Imagine if I tried

Seana,

I need to hop on this wagon.......... I really have never had any issues with my weight until the past year. I never had to watch what I ate. I started staying home and it seems like everyone is wanting something to eat at different times and of course hungry or not I eat. Then I try to get my 5 yr old with CF to eat high calorie/fat foods and I end up eating those too. Then my 4 yr old won't eat anything so I eat what she doesn't eat. I feel really out of shape and am getting this pillow on my belly, I feel like I just had a baby! Anywho..... I want to work on getting more exercise and cutting back the food I am not hungry for, I just like to eat. Next week my 5 yr old goes into the hospital for 2 weeks or so, and I have a hard time there because I get snacks and pop and eat all day in his room and watch TV, nothing else to do. So I will try to stick to the salads and good for me food. I am so glad you brought up this subject because it has been laying heavy on my mind. I need to tone up and I want to lose about 5 to 10 pounds. I don't like to wear my shirts tucked in because I feel like I have a big pouch. So count me in.............

Hey Seana,
I posted on your blog. I have had a hard time trying to get motivated and all of a sudden i feel motivated by you. I have 3 kids work 30plus hours a week and things are hetic. I eat out too much is my problem. Being at work and eating out, eating out on the road between doctors apts. My son's cf doctor is a 3 hr drive. But no more excuses. I have jumped on the band wagon and posted all my stats on your blog. Together we inspire and support each other when it comes to our kids with cf (or having cf) now we can inspire and support each other to make ourselves healthier so we can be around to take care of them. Thanks

I keep thinking about that Mom in New Zealand with two cfers who was facing similar problems -- weight gain, depression... And she decided to start doing triathalons! Figure if someone can change their lifestyle -- eating and exercise habits to THAT extreme, maybe there's hope for me

I too am an overweight CFer. Warwick told me I need to lose about 5-7 lbs.

I use the Amy method (and I'm not being sarcastic) that I developed years ago and I plan one day to put it in a book. Here's the method:

Eat Less. Exercise more.

I'll keep you posted on my progress. I'm 121 right now and my goal is 116
