I guess Warwick does make sense. My doc has the same idea about the higher weight equals better lung function. I have to admit that i don't think it works that way though. Guess I better start laying off the candy also<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Dusted off the treadmill over the noon hour. The settings were still for a brisk walk, sizeable incline for an hour -- back when I worked out daily before DS was born. I managed to hang on for about 20 minutes. My chest was burning, I'd forgotten to bring along a water bottle, but it's a start!

Grabbed a quick shower, managed to get my dishes washed and nebs boiled before heading back to the office. Usually I do the dishes and read the paper while grazing thru the kitchen. Need to bring some healthy snacks back to the office --- I did run out to the backyard and grabbed an apple. There's a giant box of chocolates in the break room MOCKING me, but half of my coworkers are battling colds, so I can easily avoid it 'cuz I KNOW one of the guys always coughs/sneezes and never ever washes his hands.

Just gotta keep at it. Keep motivated.

The weight thing is interesting, Amy. The pulmonologist at the clinic said that he'd like me to be at least 140, I'm 5'10". But his reason wasn't lung function, it was that I tend to drop twenty pounds whenever I get sick. However, I've never really had any problems that I knew of as a result of losing that weight when I was sick. And it's definitely easier on the joints to not have it!

What's the inherent harm in being light-weight? Is it lack of vitamins and minerals like iron? Or more susceptible to infections? I guess I'm wondering, what are the negative effects of being underweight? (I'm meaning slightly underweight... not like severely anorexic or anything...)

I am a prime example of how lung function is linked to proper weight. For the first time in probably 6 years I am at 110 pounds which was always my normal weight. I feel better & it has helped me fight a cold off better. I never had been heavier for any length of time. One time I made it to 118 pounds right out of high school & I was doing aerobics & the other time I got to 123 pounds, but I was pregnant. My goal is 120 pounds. I wont know if that will help/hinder my health until I am there! I know for me that a bad exacerbation takes my weight IMMEDIATELY so have the extra weight seems logical for me!

Dang it! Wouldn't you know that the first week in a really long time that I have been motivated to lose weight I would get sick. I believe its sinus. I have had severe headaches all week. I have went to work everyday only to come home early. It started Sunday and today I finally am starting to feel myself. I have been eating properly and cut back on my calories. I went from eating out for breakfast and dinner all week to eating out once and then I didn't order coke and had a grilled chicken sandwich no fries. Yea. I have eat pretty healthy but not working out I am sure is not going to give me results I hoped for. I feel disappointed. But heads up I am going to wait till Saturday and start a new on the gym work outs.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/brokenheart.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">. On to a new week I will weigh tommorow and give you the results.
Hope all went well for everyone who has jumped on the bandwagon and good luck.
