I tend to agree with you Lynda--I have felt the same way lately. This site is NOT about the prevention of CF. It's about being responsible, and about being proactive about your health, and it's about a sharing and a gathering of information so that people involved with CF, can make informed choices. Finally, it about support, somewhere to come to to find a shoulder to lean on.

I imagine those of you who live this disease everyday, can spot someone who is not who they say they are...I rely on your judgement on this matter...

Ya thats why i am getting pissed. Its all about stopping kids from going through cf, and not about the good side any more.</end quote></div>

I must have missed some drama somewhere along the way to this thread. I was just wondering though, the good side of what? Suffocating every day? Having to be a slave to a treatment regimen that prolongs the inevitable?

I'm a bit irritable right now because I'm on IVs, so forgive my biting cynicism. Haven't you ever head the phrase "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?" Well, seeing as how a cure is non-existent, I would say prevention is a good way to go.

Oh, and by the way. No one's forcing you to read the topics that you say are pissing you off. If you don't want them to affect you then don't read. That's the policy I go by with Nate and Tricia's blog. I can't handle their drama so I steer clear.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go start an IV. You know, one of those "good parts" of having CF.

Go check out the locked "Peanut" thread.

I don't want to rehash it all here, but CF + eugenics = that thread, and more than a few others.

This site is a support group for people that have been affected by CF, not some kind of "get rid of that filthy disease" advocacy group.

I'm not going to delude myself or others and say that CF is good in any way, by itself. But it has indirectly showed me good things in life. It's showed me the incredible stregth that people have, every single day. It's introduced me to amazing people.

There is no reason to be sarcastic here. It's not like we don't do IVs too.

No, no one forces anyone to read anything on this site. But the site should be a community that we feel at home in, not some place where our struggles are trivialized and outsiders are free to come in and stomp around as they like. Certain threads not having any sort of moderator input, or remaining open, also indicate that the ideas expressed therein are "ok" by the admins.

You mention marijuana and in 10 seconds it gets locked. Talk about aborting a CF baby and it takes 6 months to get locked, if at all.

Look at the title of this forum.

CysticFibrosis.com Support > Education > Hope

Exactly how does abortion figure into that? Even if I was pro-choice (which, can you tell, I am not?) it really has nothing to do with the site. It's like someone coming on here and asking where to buy a new motorcyle, or how to make a pie. It's not the purpose of the site.

Anyway I have gone way off topic but it's struck a nerve with me as well.

OT: I do genuinely worry about the type of person that would come on here, faking to have CF. At the end of the day I'd rather err on the side of offering too much advice, than not enough. It's only typing anyway.
