Pulmozyme and bleeding....

i dont think should cause a panic at all. I personally want to know all possibilities when it comes to hemoptysis.

Amy, i dont think you need to be so defensive when it comes to someone else posting informative info. Because thats just what it is.... informative info.
I for one am glad Mandy posted this and will send it to my Dr. for those at my clinic that have mysterious hemoptysis. Arguing over who has the better info is just ridiculous.
If you dont like a post about something that may be helpful to many others, you can always hit the back button and leave it alone to help those who may need the info. Lighten up, we are all in this together, any info is good info. even if it scares us. Sometimes a little scare is what we need to stand up and take notice.
Mandy thank you for posting this . I mentioned this to my Dr. about a year and a half ago ( that maybe i should stop Pulmozyme for a few days) when i had hemoptysis and was told Pulmozyme does not cause hemoptysis. I think this will be beneficial for her to see.

I started dnase when I was about 8 I think...I was taken off dnase when I was fourteen (around 2001) because I had a bad bleed (fresh red, lots of). I started again and about 2 weeks later I bled again. And did the same thing again. I was taken off it permenantly after the third time.

I think you need to asses if the benefits outway the risks. If they do then that's prob the most important thing.

Oh for Pete's sake-

Amy:

I was just trying to give those who feel like pulmozyme causes some issues a little info. Many docs have no clue about the meds they prescribe...

I was not being alarmist. If this info helps one person, and it looks like it may have (thank you Diane) then it did its job. The feeling of helplessness a person can feel when a doc tells them, it is not this/that drug is overwhelming. We all should be aware of side effects of our drugs. Furthermore, we all react differently to drugs...even having side effects that are not listed. I was one of the first to have high fevers (over 105) with pipercillan. I was told for years that had nothing to do with the drug. Now, years later, they have updated the literature to include high fevers in the CF population with pipercillan.

What the crap about the Tylenol comment? That reminded me of some politician deflecting a question by bringing up a completely different issue.
.....can pulmozyme cause bleeding? Well, yes, but tylenol can cause liver injury.

Unless you are comparing the oxidative injury one incurs when over-dosing on tylenol to the oxidative stress that one experiences when taking the correct/prescribed amount of pulmozyme, your tylenol comment had no place here. and if you want that conversation, I am first in line to have it.

I am NOT threatened Amy....but thanks for the chuckle. I was annoyed. Your comments could keep someone from investigating this issue thoroughly.

I don't think there's anything wrong with posting relevant informative stuff here. There's a disclaimer at the top of the page to say that you should consult your healtcare professional anyways. I also don't think it's alarmist at all.

On a sidenote: Noexcuses are you and Sakasuka/Amy the same person??
