I have to tell you guys - I've tried the sinus rinse route and I was never able to get the water from one nostril to the other. I just seeps out of my same notril.

Does this mean a). my sinuses are blocked? (i don't have that typcial CF nasal sound to my voice though..or do I chris/Jen/Jeanne?) b). i'm doing it wrong c). i'm using the wrong device (i was using a bottle sinus rinse with a black little top thing on it and sticking it up my nose and squeezing the bottle to get the water up my nose)

It hurt like a #$%&@* though, so I figured something must be right.

Any help with this would be awesome </end quote>

Amy, i do flushes too. About 100 ml per side. I will tell you how i do it as with me it get out through the other side hehe.
I use a seringe and tild (?) my head to the side. Just like laying on your side. So one side is up and the other side is down. Then i slowly push the saline in the upper nostril. After a few ml's, sometimes almost 10, it comes out through the other (lower) side. I use a 20ml seringe and change sides a few times, that works better then doing 100ml at one side and 100 ml in the other.

Hope this helps!

I use the NeilMed Sinus Rinse. www.neilmed.com You can get it at most drug stores and I love it. You do have to mix it however. I have had two sinus surguries and my ENT suggested I use this each time.

The more I use it, the better things get. It took me several months to get stuff cleared out from my most recent surgery 1/22/07. It was terrible, but the rinses helped me emmensely.

You mentioned they were 'strong'? That is interesting to me because with mine, if you use the correct amount of distilled (BIG deal-must be distilled) water and the saline pack, it is PH balanced so it should not irritate or feel strong.

Hope this helped!

Be careful about the distilled water up your nose.... there's a big chance of PA or Cepacia going up there from the distilled water.

You might want to boil tap water or buy sterile water instead.

I use the NelMed too (I just checked my package) and it felt really strong. Everyone's different I suppose

Really? I had no idea...I use to boil tap water but my doc said distilled was the best. So there is a chance of infection? Yikes...

Also, I read your post up there about when you flush it won't come out the other side. You are not ding it wrong. When I was really plugged up it did that, but it could be scar tissue also. It took a while after surgery for it to come out the other side. It's uncomfortable...but the more I used it, eventually the flush come out of the other nostral.

Have you had sinus surguries?
