Sinus problems?

Pammie,

I've dealt a lot with sinus issues related to my cf. I began having polyps when I was 12, which required 3 sinus surgeries over the next five years. I would get terrible headaches that would clear up after the surgeries and then would come back as the polyps came back due to all the pressure that came with them. Like Jeana, they went away when I was 19-20 and rarely show up now.
I still have a lot of sinus problems, but because of infection and pressure from that, not polyps.

Also, I haven't been able to tolerate any of the nasal sprays because they dry out my nasal passages pretty badly and cause nosebleeds.

Has your dr ever talked to you about using saline nasal flushes?

I had polyps. I had them removed about 18 months ago. So far so good. I've only had one infection since. before the surgery it was pretty much straight sinus infection for 2+ years. the kind of infection that made your teeth hurt and I could tell when my 4 hours were up and I needed my next Tylenol dose for the pain. Now I do the sinus rinse twice daily using the NeilMed runse thing. i also take Veramyst to keep the inflammation down. Last visit to the ENT (a month ago) she said I had only inflammation (apparently that is very common in most of the CF patients she sees) and no infection. Whew. The twice daily sinus rinses with the NeilMed sinus washes works wonders. plus it grosses out my teenager when she sees me do it. What could be better? ~Juliet
