Sinus rinses/Nasal irrigations

I bought the sinus rinse package at my Kroger's pharmacy. It comes with a nice bottle and a whole bunch of salt packets to make it a saline rinse. (PS, don't use table salt if your just don't a nasal rinse... it burns like HELL!! lol)
The processes are the same, just two names for it. The benefits are that it cleans out parts of your sinuses that simply blowing wouldn't get out of there. By clearing that mucus out, infection is less likely and can help keep not only our sinuses healthy, but help with our lungs too. Since sinus gunk has a tendency to drain down into the lungs and settle and cause infections.

What does it feel like? I am supposed to do this with my 7yr old when she gets really congested and so far I haven't had to (new to dx) and I am dreading it- I don't know how well she will cooperate with this!
I will watch that YouTube video to see what it looks like; I would just like to know what it feels like and if the fluid draining down your throat after it's been up your nose makes you gaggy and/or tastes bad.
