Started IVF cycle

Hey Kelly,

I honestly don't think the vest will inhibit implantation. I wasn't on the vest during my IVF. I didn't get it until the twins were 18 months old. I wasn't big on airway clearance, still not big on airway clearance! But now I do my vest 3x a day to prove a point, I don't think it works for me! But I'm humoring the docs anyway. I can see where I may have had the same fears though. I though standing to shower was going to make the embies fall out. I think when you go through infertility as long as I did, (for me it was 26 months, and some people even longer bless their hearts) I didn't want to do anything to inhibit implantation. I was going to get pregnant if I had to stand on my head. LOL!

Take it easy during these two weeks. You deserve it after all you've been through waiting for IVF and all. Hang in there! May 30 is right around the corner.

Tara,
Thank you so much for always having such good insight! I swear I am going crazy with all the what ifs.. I have been icing myself in the butt before getting my PIO and I swear I am not getting enough because I don't have welts or bumps like everyone says and they hardly hurt now!

For the last few weeks I have been watching a mother robin build her nest on top of my electric meter. For weeks she has been preparing for her lil one and I have been in such aww at the striking paradox of going through preparing for ivf/pregnancy and that of the Robin in my back yard. Yesterday that lil one hatched and I got to see a glimpse of it from a distance. Yet I am still amazed how diligent that mother Robin is at getting that lil one food and not leaving too far to where she can't see her nest. Hopefully that Robin will bring me good luck this cycle.

Besides a lil pulling in my ovaries the past two days and slight nauseous after my progesterone shot and bloating I feel absolutely no different then when I started the cycle.

Eliz, I am thinking of you.. Where is everyone from?

Kelly
Only 7 more days to go before test!

Hi Kelly,

Nothing new to report here except we had a chat with our doctor today and despite the infection issue he says he still feels we have a very reasonable chance of success from this cycle - as much as in any IVF cycle - so that's reassuring.

I have a bit of an ache in my lower right back but it's probably nothing to do with the 2ww!

I'm from Dublin in Ireland by the way - and you?

Let's hope your dilligent robin bodes well for us...

Elizab: Wow that is amazing you are from Ireland. Did you have to pay out of pocket for IVF? I am from Northwest Indiana which is about 30 min from Chicago. My DH has incredible insurance that pays for up to 3 cycles in my lifetime. Let's hope that it only takes one!

I am sure your cycle will be fine! Are you on PIO shots? Are you having any bloating?

Elizab,

Great news from the RE! He truly does know best, and I'm glad to hear he doesn't think you have any less of a chance conceiving this cycle.

Kelly,

That's so awesome your insurance covers IVF! A lot of people (including myself) have to pay out of pocket, and that's just added stress we don't need! That's so cute about your little Robin family in your backyard. We have some birds building nests, but I'm not sure of the type of birds. There are two types flying around back there. I'm also glad to hear you have no welts from the PIO (yet anyway!) I don't remember when I started getting bruised. But I do know I bruise real easy, so that could have been part of the problem! Did I already ask you this? Do you work full/part time out of the home? I am now on Social Security, but I would be home with the kids regardless of health status. DH and I decided I would stay home when we had kids. We each had moms that stayed home while we were young. It's such a blast and I wouldn't trade it for the world! It sucks when I get admitted though. (twice in the last six months so far. Ick!)

Oh, and I'm from Northern California (Sacramento area) Feel free to PM me anytime. tara at droflet dot net.

Hi Kelly and Tara,

I paid out of my hard-earned cash I'm afraid, ?4200 - that's about $5,700. I can claim 42% of that back in January as tax relief, at least. It's great that you have it covered Kelly.

My back is fine now, not really bloated at all but boobs a bit sore by day's end. Am not on PIO shots, they use Progestorone pessaries at my clinic so have to use 2 a day.

Anyway off into work for a meeting so talk to you later,

Elizab

Elizab,

So your whole cycle was about $5,700 US Dollars? Are you saying that included all your doctor visits and meds and everything for the cycle? Wow! It costs triple that here in the US. I paid $15,000. But that included all my meds and doctor visits. Sounds like I should have travelled abroad for my cycle. LOL! I could have saved a couple bucks (after travel costs) But it would have been a fun trip.

Totally off topic, I've always wanted to go to Ireland. I don't have any plans to go there anytime soon. We have plans for Canada (next week!) I love to travel. I didn't travel much when I was growing up, so I want to do that differently for my children. They've already used their passports for a trip to Europe and I didn't get one until I was 23 years old!

Hang in there Kelly and Elizab. One week to go!
