Ask them straight out if it effects their practice to recommend such an expensive piece of medical equipment.

I know our local doctor gets "funny" about certain medical tests and procedures that our CF doctor in the City recommends -- syngagis shots for rsv -- he mentioned the "high cost". And when I contacted him on behalf of DH's cousin regarding carrier testing -- the response was something to the effect that she should look long and hard at the reasons she wants to be tested (hello?! cousin has CF) because it's very costly and might not be covered under insurance.

I've always been really confused when hearing about the clinics not wanting to do a vest with a 2 year old, or not to do RSV shots. I wonder if it does have affect their practice, because they have to have all the info on these things and how much it really does help, right?

the only issue should be if there is a vest size that will fit your child, not that it will "that it will launch him accross the room". Thats crazy.

Post your doctors name and email and we will all shoot him a message telling him to get your child a vest. We're to dispersed to march on his office <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My daughter was hospitalized when she was 14 months old. The respiratory therapist in the hospital asked if we wanted to try the vest. Then she said she'd get the ball rolling for us, that once a child with CF is hospitalized for an exacerbation, that its much easier to convince insurance to cover it. I mentioned it to the Pulm and he said, "No, she's too young." but when I said she had used it in the hospital, he said he would support the process. And that was that. We had it in less than two weeks.
