The Vest

Thanks everyone for all your replies. really has helped me a lot. now i spoke with the PT staff today @ CHOP. and what i was told. after i had relayed all the info ive gotten so far, was that they dont use the vest on their patients below the age of 4. the reason being is they have done testing and studdies proving that it isnt any better then doing the manual chest PT at home.
i was confused by that answer and asked it to be explained again to me. so basicly the center i go to doesnt think the vest is a better source for moving the mucas out, because of the test cases they've done. now the CF doc is gonna give me the same answer when i see them in 3 weeks. im actually at a lost for words. cause they call themselves an aggressive center. now dont get me wrong, i am not trying to slam them. sometimes i thing their too aggressive. but i just thought that they would issue a vest way before the age of four.
should i speak to the companies that issue the vest and see what they say? should i get a second opinion? Aidan has had minimal illness. (he has more trouble gaining) just a few upper respitory infections. and only once has it afftected him where he was coughing bad. he has cultered Pseud. hopefully that got kicked out. all im saying is maybe i shuld leave well enough alone?

Has anyone given you Amy's (Sakasuka's) info from Dr. Warwick on use of the vest?

Since they don't think it's any better than CPT and you can't seem to convince them -- maybe appeal to their sense of "convenience". Indicate that either you or your husband travel quite a bit or have different working ours and doing CPT by yourself is very time consuming... Just trying to put a different spin on things for you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Maybe they dont feel its "better", but do they think its "equivalent"? IF so then as Liza said....maybe put a twist on it like the vest would make compliance easier. Even if they feel manual CPT is better, wouldnt GUARANTEED (so to speak) use of the Vest versus Manual CPT be better?

I would really like to post the Hil Rom pamphlet that I have scanned onto my computer somewhere on here, but am not sure how to do this. I have tried to start a blog, but it won't let me. On the pamplet it says it is 3X as effective as CPT!
