To have more children (with possible CF) or not

I think any other child you may have will love you no matter what. As for the question as to weather you should have any more is for you and your husband along. As long as you can cope if any other child should have cf. As you know our boy is mild as well, but another child may not be mild. Good luck anyway.

I would never take that chance after just watching my 20 year old daughter die from CF.</end quote></div>

Thank you for your perspective.

I think many of these parents who have young ones haven't experienced the horrors of the disease yet. Thank you for speaking out. Your opinion is very valuable.

I have a two year old with CF and we would not take the chance. We did do IVF/PGD (more affordable than adoption in our case)and are currently pregnant. It is not 100% but we did everything we could to try and avoid CF. We think it is very important that our son have at least one sibling. We are due in June.

I think the reason some of us young mothers with young CFers have to stay away from this site is because we don't want to see the horrors of the latter disease stages. Another thing is that our CF docs are not giving us the prognosis that many of you were given years ago. Dr Warwick honestly made CF seem like not a "big deal" when we saw him. He fully expected Aidan to be a father and grandfather if he so wished. Our kids are getting treatments from Day 1 if newborn screened that many never had until much older. So our docs are telling us very different things than what you heard years ago. But until there is a cure, we would not take the chance.

Supports my theory that many parents on here are in denial about what this disease can bring. Even if you get treatment from day one.......

One day, you'll see too.....
