Vitamin D and lung health

I have read from numerous sources and also was told by the dietitian at my clinic that you can only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time. So anything over 500mg in a single dose goes unused."

Actually, the reason doctors say to take vitamin D with your calcium is because it helps to break the calcium down so that more can be absorbed.

im confused about that becuase source cf I think was one of the first to get specially vitamins.
What about the others vitamins in source cf

The CF-specific vitamins are good choices and contain amounts of vitamins that are appropriate for the needs of many people with CF. They just are not always enough to maintain high enough levels for everyone due to how different everyone with CF is. Some with CF do fine only taking the CF multi, others may need a supplement for maybe just one item, still others may require several supplements in addition to taking a couple multivitamins a day.

Re. what you quoted about calcium: anyone taking high doses of calcium isn't getting that from a CF vitamin. They are getting that from a separate supplement.

I was just recently diagnosed with ostreopenia so now im on 2000ui a day of Vitamin D and 1500ui of calcium a day as well as whatever else im taking lol

I do break up my Vit/Calcium into two doses. I am also on Aquadeks (one twice a day). My vitamin A level was also low so I take additional vitamin A and I've always taken additional vitamin K. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
