ashley is 5 and started when she was about 1 years old, and also takes tobi every other month.pulmozyme keeps the lungs clear by not allowing mucus to stick to the lungs.
I believe both of these drugs have kept her healthy.
she has 100% lung function and have never caught a cold,
never been sick, not even an ear infection.

pulmozyme, and tobi are our modern day miracle drugs in my opinion. we are lucky our children were born now and not
years ago, they can live normal lives with these meds in their system.

My daughter was a year old. My son was a month old. It is preventative medication. My son is now 4 and his morning routine is 4 different nebs. The sooner they learn about sitting still the better! Cedermont kid videos were a lifesaver when my kids were babies/toddlers.
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 7 and Jack, 5 both with cf

Logan was started on it with the diagnosis at 4 months old. I just thought it was part of everything and that he needed it. He is now 14 months old and has been on it daily sometimes twice a day when he is sick. Is this a bad thing? Should they take breaks from certain meds? Gosh there is so much to learn</end quote></div>

Are you sure it is pulmozyme you do twice a day?? I thought it was once a day no matter what. But hey, I've been known to be wrong before.

When he is sick, yes. Actually he was just on it twice a day last week for 6 days. They upped all of his nebs and added Atrovent for the week. I wondered if it was too much.
These were the Nebs he was on....

Albuterol 4x/day
Atrovent 2x/day -Mixed with 2 of the Albuterol doses
Pulmicort - 2x/day (1 vial AM and 2 vials PM)
Pulmozyme - 2x/day
Plus CPT - 4x/day

His congestion was mainly in his nose and upper airway. Hadn't settled into his lungs and through it all his lungs have remained clear. His pulmo and primary doc are very impressed this time. The Clinic said it was a really bad week they had admitted like 10 CFers to the hospital. Maybe they were being agressive to keep his lungs clear?
