That is great that you can stay home while the kids are young. I did not, but I am in a family business with a lot of flexibility. But now that my girls are in school, there really wouldn't be a reason to stay home because they aren't there anyways.
But it does take a lot of understanding from an employer to make it work. Again, I work with my parents, and my husband and his parents have a business together, so we are both fortunate to have this flexibility. Both sets of grandparents only want whats best for their granddaughters (being my girls wCF).
So missing work for clinic or hospital stays has never been a problem, but again, I am very fortunate.
But our typical day is crazy. I am up at 5:30 or so, take the dog out and play with her for a few minutes before getting myself ready for work before waking up the girls. Then at 6:30, its a constant let's move it! We have breakfast, (then take time out for the 15 minute morning poop session...although this makes it easy for my younger daughter to get her 10 min/day reading done for school), get dressed (and with two girls this takes about 30 minutes for pete's sake! and usually ends up in tears for at least one us, lol), and get the vest done and the dog outside again before heading out the door at 8:00. Sometimes we have to squeeze in Tobi, depending on the cultures.
After school I pick up the girls from school and three days a week they go to work with me (two days a week they go home with Grandmas). We get a very much needed snack and a bit of playtime at work on the computer or with Grandpa if he is there. Somedays we have hip hop dance class or cheerleading at the basketball games after school, instead of going back to work. Then we head home at 5:00.
At home it's homework, dinner, baths, vest, sometimes Tobi, always Pulmozyme and in bed by 9:00. On Wednesday we have mid week bible school for kids in the evening. We try to get a little playtime in there as well, plus try to give the dog some much needed attention as well
Unlike others, I don't tend to get much more done than dishes and straightening out the main living areas during the work week. Most laundry is done on Saturday, unless someone wants something specific that is not yet clean because they wore it earlier in the week and just have to have it! That was my husband last night We try to make church every weekend, but it doesn't always happen-
sometimes we just need to sleep in.
My daughters just started having some chores during the week, such as helping empty dishwasher and fill it, etc. But they are still loving it! The newness hasn't worn off yet, it's only been 5 days...
Yes, I wish things would be slower, but it's just hard. Now that they are older they just want to do so much, and have friends to see, and parties to go to! And they are only 7 and almost 9! There is just always something to do. I do find time somehow to serve on the CFF board and volunteer on two events as well as have two CFF fundraisers on our own outside of what we do for the CFF.
But you know what...I didn't feel that busy until I just wrote all of this out!
