What to feed a 1 yr old?

Emily is almost 20 months (Yikes, I haven't thought of her as being that old until just now...) and she is at a stage where she will eat anything she can dip. So, we dip everything in ranch dip. Chips, cheese cubes, carrot sticks, pretzles, it all goes into dip before it goes into her mouth. She likes cinnamon toast, I butter both sides of the bread. She loves avacados, eats them cubed with a little salt. She like Dora soup, too. Chips and cheetos, slim jims...she like fatty things, but not sweets, and getting a fruit into her is tough. Veggies she will eat with butter and salt. Her favorite lately is mashed potatoes with butter, chip dip and salt. Oh, and we sprinke shredded cheese on it. Talk about mongo calories in every bite! There were a lot of good suggestions on this thread this time. I'm going to print it out and take it to the grocery store!

Wow, lot's of good ideas.

I thought I would add chicken nuggets. My DS loves his chicken nuggets and they're loaded with calories. I buy the freezer kind in bulk, then just pop them in the microwave. I cut them up in bite size pieces and each piece is dipped in ketchup.

I just found these things called cereal straws. You find them in the cereal section. They're made to use as straws to add flavor to milk. DS loves these, he'll have them plain or with milk.

I wish I had as many choices as you guys have when it comes to feeding my little guy. He has casein allergies and can have absolutely NO dairy in his diet. Not soy, not goats milk, nothing.........very rare I know, but we have been on the "rare" side of everything lately<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

So, I am always looking for new ideas when it comes to feeding time.....he is still on formula (EleCare-just switched to vanilla flavor) and baby food #3. I also give him ice cream cones minus the ice cream (certain brand), crackers, Jell-O, bananas, rice, French fries, and he loves chicken strips from Papa Johns. He will also eat soft diced carrots, green beans, baked beans, and corn. Of course everything is prepared without dairy, which makes it difficult to add in those extra calories.

I am definitely interested in this thread so I will check back often. Hopefully I'll get some more ideas for my son to eat as well.
