When you thought about having children what did you do?

Even from before we were married, my husband and I were of the mindset that we would be a family of two. To read more about our decision and our thoughts on it, please visit my blog.

Our decision was not because I was afraid I wouldn't get to see a kid grow up. It wasn't because I didn't want a child to have to bear the pain of losing a parent. Parenting is simply not our calling in life.

It really sounds like you hold yourself back on a lot in life because of CF. I chose to live my life to the fullest and not sit couped up like a mole just because I have CF..</end quote>

Well sh!t. If going to school at a Top 20 MBA in a month is holding back, I really need to re-access myself.

If working full time at a pharmaceutical company and being the #1 sales rep in the country out of 517 people is holding back, I should get my head re-adjusted.

If traveling to Austria, France, and Mexico in the past 12 months is holding myself back, I really need to get a life.

The list goes on and on and on and on....

I would suggest knowing what you're talking about before you speak, Kris

LouLou, I just saw your post
I wish your baby turns out CF free, and even being a carrier, that's not so important,I believe by the time he/she reaches adulthood there will be a cure or at least very efective Tx to this horrible disease

Thank you for your info. I didn't know about PGD though. Why doesn't everybody do that? Is it something insurance doesn't cover? Sorry for so many questions, I'm not from the US, many things are different here (Portugal)

And, to add insult to injury there are spontaneous mutations... damn disease!

All the very best to you, DH and your child!! Do you think he/she'll be born on July 23rd?? because that's the day I turn 50!

I told my husband (fiance at the time) that he would have to get tested by Ambry. He was adament that he couldn't be a carrier because of the lack of family history. I pretty much told him that that was crap and if he didn't have test, no babies. Luckily he is not a carrier.
