I need sleep

After Austin was diagnosed with CF, we checked with all family members that we were able to contact and no one could think of any family members that had CF. As we looked back in our family history on my father's side, there were several people that died young, but we don't know why...it...

    cf centers

Austin goes to UC Davis in Sacramento California. He's 17 now so our new doctor here suggested we ask to be seen in the adult clinic next time we travel the 3 hours there and the 3 hours back. Ugh.

    Remembering......

My heart goes out to those of you that have lost loved ones I lost my best friend, Elise, almost 4 years ago this coming January 8. She was just 38 and was killed by a drunk driver while she was getting out of her car to meet with a patient...

My christmas stocking gifts - funny..!

If you have 2 curtains hanging in the shower, one is usually water proof and stays in the tub (the liner) and the other is cloth that is the "pretty" part that stays out of the tub. I gave my kids the one that is guaranteed never to mold. We shall see... <img...

    Refrigerate Enzymes?????

Sunnie, Bridgette left last year do to some "personal family problems". That's all I was told Yes, Dr. Jawar is still there but I only saw him maybe once in the past 10 years and that was when Austin was hospitalized for the onset...

    Pseudomonas

Our pharmacy delayed giving us the TOBI, but I could hardly blame them. A one month supply of TOBI costs $3,498. I have medi/cal and am in CA so we have California Children's Services that helps cover any cost for CF that medi/cal will not. Maybe, depending on what state you are in, there...

It's the peds unit. I miss Bridgette! She would never have given me wrong info and I would never have had to keep calling her to get back to me on the status of his vest, like I have to do again tomorrow. grrrrrr I'll ask about being seen in the adult clinic when we go back in January.

    Mild/Moderate/Severe

We were always told that Austin's CF was mild but it would progress. When he was 3, they told me he would most likely live to be 27. When he was diagnosed with the CFRD, and I asked them how long he had, they just looked at me. They gave me NO hope. They refused to tell me, knowing that it...

    Refrigerate Enzymes?????

I was on the phone with a nurse from UCDMC in Sacramento where we have been taking Austin for 13 years and she mentioned she had been to a conference and was told that enzymes should be kept in the refrigerator to prolong there efficacy. I was kinda shocked, being that I was always told that...

Where is everyone from? Is it cool there?

We live in Northern California in a boring little town called Redding. I have ALWAYS hated it here and would love to move back "home" to Pacific Grove, California where I grew up. We actually had some snow here a couple of days ago but it didn't stick for very long. It gets over 110 here in...

    Question About S.S.I

Well, after emailing back and forth with Beth Sufian, the outcome is bleak. Here is one of her last replies to me. If you did not appeal after you lost after you had your hearing then you will have to start all over and file a new applicatiuon. Your lawyer should have told you this. A...

    Things to be thankful for....

I'm thankful that we were able to keep Austin out of the hospital for Thanksgiving. He would have gone in today but the doctors said he sounded good enough to keep out. He's still using triple antibiotics, but he's here...at home...with us, taking them. I'm sure there are many other things I...
