    Portacath Removal

wow, and I thought MY port placement experience was bad! That really sounds like such a headache. Why isn't anyone ordering you a chest xray faster? Do they even have one ordered? When my port placement was if-y, I had three chest xrays in one day just to be sure the surgeon didn't screw...

    65_RedRoses on OWN

Hey guys! I got super excited to find out that Eva's story, 65_RedRoses, would finally be able to be aired in the US on the Oprah network. Since I found that out, I've been checking the OWN website and channel continuously looking for an actual air date. No luck. I've finally found that it's...

    Mycobacterium abcsessus

@LouLou, I was told by the infectious disease doc that M. abscessus can be found almost anywhere; showers, dirt, medical appliances, basements, keyboards, shopping carts, everywhere - especially if it's somewhere damp. She said it was nearly impossible to guesstimate where I contracted it from...

    Mycobacterium abcsessus

I've had the worst luck with this. I've been on IVs since October of last year and they aren't working. I'm on cefoxitin and tigecycline for this infection. It makes me feel really crummy. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and this may not actually be everyone's case, but I've been told you...

    Need to vent

Posting a reply to the OP... missT, I know exactly how you feel. I've been feeling the same as you for the last several weeks. My IVs aren't working and I'm going on O2 more often...trying to finish this semester up, wondering if it's even worth it to try and finish school because I don't really...

    Mycobacterium

Hey there! I've had MAC before (which is a combo of 2-3 different mycobacteria organisms), but now my main cultprit is M. Abscessus. My CF doc was the one who diagnosed it via sputum culture. They diagnose it via AFB smear (where they smear your sputum and do a special stain that stains Acid...
