If you think there is a chance your child has CF, you need to find an accreditited CF center, cff.org has a search function. <br /> <br />Your doctor frankly doesn't have a clue, tasty salty is NOT a medical test by any means. Yes, patients with CF tend to excrete more salt in their sweat; but...

Blessed, unfortunately the answer is that your Dr. just hasn't seen the research. If they read the published research, they would likely, but not necessarily, change their answer. However, having not seen the research and not having had patients take it themselves, the Dr. just assumed it...

Ok, Harriett's article cites at mutation rate of 4.9% and I found a study last year that put the rate in Chile of 3.3%; both citing a tie to Spanish descent. Either way, likely there are several hundred patients with this mutation in the US. It's rarity is more likely tied to the relative lack...

Twodogs, would you mind citing your source for such 'definitive' information? <br><br>I did find evidence that my orginial finding of only a handful is wrong as it appears to be more common in those of Southern European decent, but I'd like to know where you data came from?<br> <br>Thank you,

CF services leaves enzymes at door in 100 degree weather

First of all, the bottle you got last week is most likely ok. You don't mention which brand, but per the prescribing information Creon must be stored at room temp <77degF; but can be between 77-104degF for up to 30 days before it as to be discarded. While it has been hot, I don't think it...

    Any ideas about vomiting?

My first thought was reflux, and he is already on an antacid....so if the swallow truly showed no reflux then I'm stumped. I'd definitely talk to the GI. IF it is reflux, something you can try easy (esp if he is still in a crib) is elevate the head of his bed a little bit. It doesn't have to...

    Bad news

Well, new plan today. They couldn't get anyone to agree to try an picc placement as they last several have been nearly impossible. So.....discharged this afternoon, having a port placed next Tuesday and then a week inpatient to start IV's then. Ugh

    Bad news

LouLou, normally I stay with him but I'm in NY working so my wife is with him, and my other kids are spread out across Georgia at friends. It was supposed to be an outpatient procedure than morphed into a 2-day stay so we weren't prepared at all <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"...
