How to get your child(10) to expectorate mucus?

She's stubborn. This productive mucus thing is fairly new as well. She had been having lots of issues with tightness and wheezing; then we finally increased her Pulmicort dose. Since that time she seems to be able to mobilize stuff and it is there to cough up(most of the time). She has not...

    Thoughts on Missing Recess

Justinsmama, In my daughter's 504 plan it specified, that if she is sick and misses 3 days of school in a row she is allowed a tutor. We have not utilized this yet but it shows how easy it is to fall behind, especially when you are not well it makes it even harder to keep up. If my daughter...

    Asthma question

We have gotten differing views of Pulmozyme from different CF docs, so it can be confusing. My daughter started Pulmozyme when she was about 2 1/2 years old. We first had done it in the morning after her albuterol then immediately did her VEST. We did it like that for a while; then when she...

Cold - When to call the doctor?

I would definately call. Yes my daughter has gotten sick while on antibiotics. Antibiotics do not protect you from viruses. So he could be sick with something else. My daughter's Cf doctor has extended her antibiotics doing another round (meaning another 2 weeks) when this has happened. Or...

The past couple weeks my daughter chest area has these marks on it. I thought her VEST was too tight; which it was; I measured her and they shipped out a small adult size for her(she's 10). Now the VEst is big but fits her with out being Very tight. Anyway; she has these marks(they do not...

Hope your little guy starts to feel better! Good thing you brought him in. i would keep up on the Chest PT and nebs. We usually cut out extra activities when an exacerbation starts. And always keep in close contact with your CF doc/team They are there to help you.

Bigstar; For the sodium bicarb, I give it to my daughter at the exact same time she would take her Creon(just like it's part of her pill). I would check with your doctor first of course.
