    Stop Working

Well, I'm working part-time now. I used to work full-time (since high school). In 2002 my health got a little worse. Although my employers were very good to me and kept reassuring me, I was always stressing about whether or not I was going to get fired for missing so much work. Then I also...

    A Real Inspiration...

I've also felt this way, espeically in my school years. More so in grade school. Back then, (and still today), a lot of people didn't know what CF was. My best friend knew and a few of the other kids, but I usually didn't tell anybody. I think I didn't want them to know because I thought...

    B. Cepacia

My sister had a culture come back that she had b. cepacia, which was a couple of years ago now. That was the only culture that showed the cepacia. She has had it checked with her periodic sputum cultures and it hasn't shown up since. If I am remembering correctly, it now shows that she has...

    Disability Question??

If I'm understanding it right, the trial work period (of 9 months of working while receiving benefits) would be if you are making more than $620 or more a month. The $860 is the limit of "substantial" income that you can earn per month and still receive benefits (after the trial work period)...

    Disability Question??

Thanks for the link Julie. I've been trying to read what I can on the website, but I haven't had much time the last couple of days. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to look at it some more. If things start getting too complicated and I think I'm going to start pulling my hair out (lol) ...

    Medical Mutual of Ohio

I don't live in Ohio or have Mutual Medical, but my insurance does require that I have a PCP. I HAVE TO get referrals from him to see my cf doctor. But I believe my cf doctor is also in their list of physicians under Specialty Doctors. Maybe your employer could find out that information for...

    Disability Question??

Thanks for the tips. I've been going back and forth with this disability issue since I quit my job back in 2003. I just can't seem to take that final step. I've thought about it before and pretty much had myself talked into it and then back out saying I probably don't qualify so why bother...

    Disability Question??

First, I just want to say thank you to Julie who has been very helpful in answering my emails. I have a question that maybe someone else in the forum might be able to help me with. I am seriously thinking of applying for disability. My dilemma is that I am currently working, but only...

    Article on antibiotics

I actually just got done reading this article on the net. I have never been on it and I have never heard of it. I saw that it is used for respiratory infections. Is this a common drug for CF patients to use when sick? I've never heard anything about it.

    LIFE INSURANCE

I have life insurance through Western Southern. I don't remember for sure, but my mom got the insurance when we were kids (not sure if it was before or after the CF diagnosis). When we turned 25 we had the option of purchasing additional insurance. If we didn't get it at that time, we would...

    For Music Lovers

Thanks for letting me know. I just don't want to get in trouble! Yes, I'm proud of him. He's been playing music since he was a teen (he's 44 now). Unfortunately, all his attempts to sell his songs have been fruitless. He came across this broadjam site a couple of years ago and has been...

    For Music Lovers

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this; if not, please let me know. I'm still new to all this message board stuff (rules, etc.). Here is a website that has a wide range of music www.broadjam.com. My brother is a musician and he has several songs on there. If you would like to hear any of his...

3 things you love/hate about where you live?

LOVE 1. Fairly quiet neighborhood 2. Close to most of our family (my brother lives in MN) 3. Close to stores, restaurants, etc. HATE 1. The water (we our on a community well and that water gets yellow/oragne at times, so we have to go get water from my husband's parent's house to drink. You...

    80s Music - wow

I'm a night owl so I always see these music infomercials on TV late at night. I grew up with the 80's music. I do remember the Friday Night Videos (before MTV) too. I still listen to a lot of that music. Believe it our not, I actually have some records!! Boston was (and still is) one of my...

    First HS treatment today

Thanks everybody for the tips. I still haven't heard from my insurance company. The cf clinic had thought there was another patient that had the same insurance as me that had paid for it, but they weren't sure. I'll probably have to call them if I don't hear anything by tomorrow. Sue, you...

    First HS treatment today

I had my first HS treatment at the clinic today. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. I know it's different for people, but for me, it just seemed like a regular breathing treatment. I did cough slightly more. I didn't really notice that it helped much (but it didn't hurt either)...
