Peanut,

please don't think that I'm trying to talk you out of a decision that you've made, but I would like to help clear up some misinformation that your dr. seems to be giving you.

Delta F508 is the most COMMON mutation, but not the worst. CF mutations go from a class 1 to a class 5 i believe, and DF508 is a class 2. My daughter has the same mutations.

Don't think that with these mutations that you will be saying goodbye to your baby within weeks, months or years. My daughter is 7 months old, and a normal baby who takes some extra medication every day.

There are people on this board with DF508 that are in their late 30's early 40's, so don't let the doctor scare you into something that you don't want 100%.

Good luck with whatever decision you make, and feel free to PM me if you need to.</end quote></div>

I could not agree with you more! My little girl has DDF508 and at the age of 4 she is as healthy as any 4 year old without CF. Sometimes the information we get is misleading, that is why a second opinion is very important. I fully expect Avery to grow up and bury my wife and I when we are old and gray, have kids, grandkids of her own.

Send me a PM with a way to contact you if you want to talk. If we live near each other maybe we can get together for coffee (as long as you are sure you don't have CF!). <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Carey, go ahead and flick that chip off your shoulder. geez, give the woman a break! If you don't have anything supportive to say to her then heed what I'm sure your mother recommended a long time ago and say nothing at all.

Peanut, I too think about you often and am glad that you have stopped back in here to tell us how you are doing. This is none of my business, but I'm curious to know if you are planning on children in the future, and if you know what your options are for having a non-CF baby? There's a lot of info specific to your situation if you haven't heard it already.

Please PM me or email me if you EVER want to talk, division902@verizon.net
