Hey all..I actually am going to a CF center for the first time next Monday at Albany Med in NY. Like I have stated in my previoius posts, I was just dx'd....so, docs referred me to Albany for further testing and now they are seeing me...never been there except to see my neuro awhile back. Albany is about 1 1/2 hours away from my home...not too bad, I travel that far just to see my pulmo in UCONN, just different direction LOL! We go to Childrens In Pittsburgh, but are lucky enough they have a clinic in Monroville, it is 1 hour 45 min away but well worth the trip. Dr. Finder is awesome and the nurses are so kind. I love our dietition Iris she is amazing. They return your calls and never rush you out. It is well worth our ride and I feel Jaden is getting the best care there.

I have been at UC Davis in Sacramento since I was 6. I live like 10 minutes away so it was kind of a no brainer. The pediatric clinic was great and I really like my adult Dr. The hospital nurses are exceptionally nice, the students (nurses and Dr.'s), well now that can get tiresom but you learn quick to tell them to lay off when they get to be too much.

I go to Childrens Medical in Dallas. Its about 30 minutes away. I've been going there since birth. Luckily they have an adult clinic as well, that I love.

This is for Jenn -

I went to Albany Med for years, and thought it was great... I highly recommend both Dr. Rosen and Dr. Smith. The only reason I left was that I moved to Boston. Good Luck!

My son is at Rush University Hosp. in Chicago. They have been great and they have an adult clinic as well which will make for an easier transition when he gets older. It's either 20 minutes or 450 days to get there depending on Chicago traffic! We have our first admission on thurs, for a G tube insertion, so I don't have an opinion about the inpatient saff as of yet.

Kerry- That is so FUNNY! I wasn't sure but took a chance..... My sister Tara is married to Tim Hanley. When Mrs. Hanley found out that I had CF she told me about you. I always wanted to get in touch with you, I never knew another CF patient. If you want to email me:carriecalacanis@yahoo.com, I"ld love to talk to you!

I also go to Washington University at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St.Louis, Missouri. I live in southern Illinois about 1 and 1/2 hours away...but it is the closest clinic to me. It is a good one too!

I go to the CF center in Atlanta. Have gone there for 26 years and it's 4 hours away from me. It's well worth it, they've kept me going strong this long.

I went to the UC Davis Peds clinic from the age of 3-20 yrs old. Then I transferred to their adult clinic. I used to travel two hours one way to get there when I was younger but now I go to school nearby so I can juggle dr. appointments and school a little more easily.

I live in Seattle so I go to the University of Washington Medical Center which has an Adult CF Center. I do not like the doctor, she is not sensitive to what I am going through, very cold. I would like to hear more about what other CF center doctors are treating you with? How is your CF, are there any new treatments that you are getting?

Adult pulmonary clinic at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. I went to the pediatric clinic until I was 19 or 20, though. Now that I'm in college I live about an hour and a half away, and they can only see me on Wednesdays, which means I usually end up missing a few classes (which isn't TOO bad sometimes).

Cale (3 yrs old) goes to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. We have been pretty happy there so far. We drive about an hour to get there.

I go to UVA in Charlottesville, VA. I live 2 hours from there. The doctor I have had since being diagnosised retired about 8 yrs. ago and it about killed me. I was referred to an adult specialist. He just isn't the same so as ashmed as I am to admit it I don't go as often as Im supposed to. I have a really great aggressive resp. specialist that I rely on that is local. And for now I am satisified with his manorisim (so I depend on him suggesting the right thing for me).
