cf is merciful

I've read all of your replys and all of you had made a lot of good points, I myself try to stay positive, and since I havent felt or been through a lot with my CF, only little minor problems. I feel that for me right now, CF doesnt sound as bad to have compared to other diseases that are out there, not counting blindness or deafness, bc they are only disabilities. Im talking about other stuff, like cancer, I know that SOME cancer can be cured but not ALL cancer is, my grandpa passed away with lung cancer, and I've known a few people that beat cancer, but cancer can STILL come back, even after beating it the first time. Every illness and disease sucks, no matter what it is, and like some had said on here its how you deal with it. Right now I can agree with ihatecf, simply bc I havent gone through a lot like some of you have, but when I do, then I might not agree with her, and say that CF is the worst to have. So far the only thing I hate about it is the treatments, that is so time consuming and then trying to make sure you get them in.

but what else do you have to go by?

someone says something or writes something, you assume it's what they mean to say unless they're lying.

so instead of believing what someone says we should try to interpret it and try to get down the the root meaning?

say what you mean, mean what you say. otherwise communication is useless!

To clarify things more. " Merciful" was a word i used to compare to it to the worst diseases or disabilities in life because I rank CF among the top 3 killer diseases. However, I firmly believe that its better than other disabilities.

I believe that quality of life is much important than the quantity. Many agree with me. Thus, I dont care because cf kills. We all die sooner or later. However, the worst thing abt it is that it in its last stages it steals your quality of life. Im going through this right now. I have seen the worst of cf yet I thank God that this phase is not long.

Im not afraid of death. Infact Im ready for it. Many of those who answered dont have cf. They are relatives of cfers. It hurts when you see your loved one die. I agree, but if you want to keep him alive 100 years with a disability and long suffering that is selfishness.

Some replies surprised me bcz they were written by people who themselves thank God for CF, and they say it shaped their life better. If this is the case, than CF is more than merciful and a blessing to you. Unless, you dont feel what you write and you just try to look strong which is pathetic.

Anyways to conclude my point. Yes I prefer CF over other disabilities , but I surely wish I didnt have it. Life could be much worse, we just have to look at the lesser of 2 evils.

ok so since written words don't always express what our thoughts and feelings are, should i believe that rami's post above is true; or maybe opposite of what he truely believes or thinks; or perhaps a symbolic deeper meaning?

I just got off the phone with someone that I am closer to then anyone in the world. I was telling her about my day and updating her on my health.. She is very, compassionate and understanding, and has experienced a lot in her life as well. Sometimes she really amazes me, she knew about CF related arthritis, I don't even know how she knows all the stuff that she does about CF other then she must research it... anyway... One thing she said to me that I really agree with is, that when you are suffering in pain, it is impossible for you mood and your feelings not to be affected.

I couldn't agree with that more, and I think each one of us is going to respond to this post depending on what level of suffering we are at at the moment. It is impossible to have a good positive attitude when you are suffering, I don't mean when you are sick but when you are suffering.

Lately I am suffering, my body hurts, and it is really affecting my mood, and my "gratefulness' toward anything. Other days, when the pain isn't bad, or I am not coughing my head off. I can feel grateful for the things that my health or lack there of has brought to my life.

The other night.. a few of us were in chat together.. and had a wonderful conversation.. I felt so much better after talking to the ppl in there. I was able to release a lot of my feelings, and I was supported for where I was at...I always seem to be supported on here if I am having a good day..everyone cheers for me, and when I am having a bad day.. everyone.. passes me the tissues.. I love that about this website....

I think it would be good if we could support each of us for where we are at. It Rami is feeling comfort and support at this point.. Yippie for him. I am jealous because right now.. I feel like I am about to drown in a big ocean and I don't see any help in site... BUt I accept Rami and where he is at..

Though my initial post was really cranky and I complained about how I think Life sucks.... after thinking about it... and after the conversation I Had this morning.. I changed how I feel..

I wasn't going to reply to this thread, as I am on the outside looking in. Kaylee has barely started having cf lung issues. So I can only use my imagination, and what I have read, to imagine how bad it is going to be, or to get. Some of you don't know what conditions Rami is living with. He has no Cf clinic--Cf is a VERY rare disease in Lebanon. So he was being introspective on his lot in life. It's ok to disagree, he loves discussion, but as so often happens, with threads where people are voicing their thoughts, some people get all bent out of shape and take it personally, and then THEY get personal.

Good grief, go ahead and voice your thoughts, but there is no right or wrong here. Rami was just stating how HE feels. This is all opinion here folks. I think this was a very thought-provoking thread. No need to go "you don't know what it's like. . . "--'cause as bad as you all think you have it--Rami has it worse.
Disagree if you like, but don't get personal. He certainly didn't mean to OFFEND the blind or the deaf--though his including them was offensive. Look at the spirit in which the thought was penned. I think pro/con discussions are invigorating.

NO I dont expect people to try and interpret the meaning of things when it appears obvious, but what I am saying is that whether we try or not to interpret them.....there could be more meanings then the obvious. I am sure when some of us on here come off arrogant and/or obnoxious that we might misinterpret it, but hey thats just my opinion. Also not everyone has the eligant tongue to express their thoughts vivdly!
