ok here's a question for you cipro PRO's... the insomnia is what irritates me the most (i can deal with the sun sensitivity)...when i took it back in june, i took it around 7 AM and 7 PM... and went to bed around 10 PM...

if i hafta take it again, should i...

1) take it RIGHT before bed, so that hopefully i can get to sleep before it starts it's business in my head, or
2) take it before i eat... would that lessen the insomnia effects?

which seems like a better choice?

DJ-did you know that CIPRO makes you extremely sensitive to the effects of caffeine? If you drink any caffeine it can interact with it and make you seriously wired, the effects for some people are worse than others. Other than that I am not sure about the insomnia. Maybe you could take a unisom at bed time, they are very safe and effective (for me).

I am normally not a caffeine person so if I do 'use' some while on cipro it is like rocket fuel to me LOL.

Also just FYI: caffeine is also found in chocolate. If you are looking for caffeine free pop you can go with root beer (but not bargs) or sprite or one of the orange or grape pops.

Huh. I didn't know that about Cipro and caffeine- that explains why I was up until 2 am last night, and, apparently, will be again tonight! I don't usually do caffeine, either, but I've had a Chai tea latte this evening...

Taking the Culturelle probiotic 2-4 hours before I take my Cipro seems to help the "going right through" some , and taking it with a big snack or meal helps with the side effects too. It also makes me really, really irritable, for the first week or so- really weird, but I think I found that as a possible side effect years and years ago in the literature...

Good to know about the mag supplements helping with Cipro- I just started one a month or so ago .

I hope you are feeling better soon!

yeah i looked up the things that react with cipro, and avoided caffeine totally, sounds like i should take it with a meal, or just before, to minimize its side effects.
