*raises hand from way back in the classroom* I have a question...what is "contrast" and "high resolution"?
Is it an "option" for when they develop the film?
The two times that I've gone in for a CT, they never mentioned anything about "high resolution" and "contrast".
I don't mean to sound like a "rocket scientist", but my understanding about a CT Scan is that it is basically a computer that can pick up better X-ray images than the common Through Transmission of the X-ray film that has been used for years. The CT Scan still uses X-radiation, but less than the typical X-ray. Also, I'm sure the technicians, when (and if) they are running you through the machine two times, probably use two settings for the resolution of the images. Contrast, if it's still based on DAC technology, would only be filtering out the highs and lows of the "noise" that comes with the data information.
I could be wrong, because I'm using this knowledge based on what I already know from basic Ultrasonic Testing...which means if this were about Ultrasonics, I could get more technical....anyway, I hope someone can answer my question, I think it's a good one.
