Sorry to hear you failed the 1 hr but don't worry just yet - lots of people fail the 1 hr and are fine w/ the 3 hour. If you want, you an always just go to your local drug store and buy a monitor and some test strips. I have one and I'm not a diabetic but I'm convinced I do get low bs sometimes. When I was preggo I took 2 glucose tests - 1 around 18 weeks and the other around 28 weeks and both were fine. And even if you do have gd, lots of people can control it w/ diet and exercise alone. Good luck w/ the 3 hour

I was misdiagnosed with it with my first pregnancy (long story - I can tell you more if you're interested), and since I had a feeling it was wrong (gut instinct) I decided to just monitor my sugars and eat as I usually would for the rest of my pregnancy I did, and I was fine - never had high sugars. I passed the GTT with flying colors with my second pregnancy (which verified that I was right the first time!)

Remember, there are some problems with the GTT (who ever takes in that much glucose at once especially in an empty stomach?), but while GD is nothing to mess with - if you have it, you want to get it in check - if you fail the three hour you may just want to monitor your sugars with your normal diet for a bit and see what happens.

well i got poked four times this morning. it should be against the law to have to wait in a waiting room for three hours. i got there at 6:45, they drew blood and took a urine sample. then i got to drink the wonderful juice. and wait and wait and wait. they drew blood again at 8, 9, and 10. hopefully my results come back ok. i got in about six episodes of Bonanza while i was waiting
