Somehow I missed this Haley- sorry. I had gestational diabetes, too. My sugars just kept going up during the test- they didn't even finish my test. Just sent me straight to the diabetes clinic.

I did the diet thing, and I was able to control it that way. However, I was carrying around an extra 15-20 lbs when I started. I only gained about 8 lbs in total when my daughter was born at 34 weeks (healthy ).

If I had to do it all over again, I would just insist on getting the insulin shots from the get go since I also had a hard time eating (I was very nervous during a lot of my pregnancy- took us almost 11 years to get pregnant ) and during those times, I would lose my appetite (usually, I am a stress eater- the funny things pregnancy can do to us!), and when I was really hungry, I couldn't eat all of what I wanted because I had to limit my carbs.

Hopefully, yours is not as bad as mine was, and you will be able to control it with diet and still get all the calories you need. But please don't hesitate to do the shots (and be prepared to ask for them) if you aren't. I will be praying for you and for a healthy baby!

bonniebaby- i know in a book i have it says two hours after eating your blood sugar shouldn't be higher than 120, but on my lab results my doctor wrote they shouldn't be higher than 155. what are you going by????

i haven't seen my cf dietian yet, but i'm seeing her wednesday. i'm supposed to see a regular dietian tomorrow, but i think i'm just going to wait until wednesday. i started checking my sugar when i wake up and two hours after every meal. so four times a day.
