sally, i know its hard for you to understand seeing as you are 40 and not involved in the 'punk' scene, but if you spent some time around them, you would realise that you are on the wrong track there. there is such a thing as acting out for attention. it almost becomes a game within groups of those types and the most screwed up wins. the more anti social one is, the more popular they become. one thing ive found is that the only times they are happy is when they are getting pleasure out of someone elses misfortune. ever since these losers made it onto the punk scene it has gone down the gurgler. they are always starting fights with people, always getting drunk and disorderly, always bitching. they see this is great fun.

I think someone just called me "old"

tick, tick, dang, my heart is beating slower, I've fallen and I can't get up, quick, someone call 911, I think I'm dieing!!!

grannySal

Oh, and btw - the punk scene STARTED when I was in high school - so don't make the mistake of thinking it's something I wouldn't understand due to my "age"
face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0

Added: Since the dawn of time, the teen years have been the time when kids are learning to express themselves, push the envelope and have mistakenly believed they were invinceable. Each decade, the standard of what is considered moral has declined and has become a sesspool. Kids having Kids has lent itself to this decline resulting in a world where kids think it's fun to laugh, kick and crucify the less fortunate, think it's fun to rob, rape and murder, and think it's their "right" to have what they want, when they want. Kids used to look up to doctors, atheletes and their parents - now they aspire to be criminals and sluts (hiphip gangsters, and brittany spears.)

...I think I smell rain in the horizon.... perhaps 40 days and 40 nights....

umpfff, I just fell off my dinosaur...

Thank you, Kylie. I was about to say the same thing. There is such a thing as actually growing up and learning to deal with problems, not just bitching about them and threating to kill yourself over them. Which is what emos are good at.

i find emo boys way attractive.
my boyfriend wears my pants and borrows my makeup.
i dont find anything wrong with that.

Tamara, you gorgeous girl!!!

When I first read this post, your picture came to mind. I didn't want to point you out (privacy) but I was hoping you would respond! You are a perfect example of an anti-sterotype.

To quote someone very wise "people need to become more tolorant!"<img src="">

I guess I'm not getting what "emo" means.

If it's simply a kid expressing their personality through the way they dress, wear their hair and some makeup - so what. I think it's great that kids can learn about themselves this way.

But when it goes further into depravity, like cutting etc. Then that's when it's time to seek professional help and realize that in their search to find themselves, they are totally lost and without hope. There is something deeper going on inside that needs help.

I can't say I'm without a snicker here and there - but the only type of kid I laugh at in the way they dress, is the guys who wear their pants at their knees - looks like they dropped a load and need their diapers changed. Now THAT is ridiculous!

I guess there isn't a real answer to what emo is, just like rockers and punks and new age etc, each had their cultish followers, and the wannabe's - no real answer into who is the epitome of that group.
