I believe that positive thinking makes a person healthier. But only because of the benefits that come from that, like taking better care of ones self. I don't believe that we can control a germ or fungus once it is in our bodies. We can try to prevent it from getting there, like wash hands and stay away from sick people, but that's about it. That said, I know that scientist still don't understand all the ways that the human body works. As David said in Psalms 139:14 "I shall laud you because in a fear-inspiring way I am wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, as my soul is very well aware."

Positive thinking does effect health, so that alone is a good reason to be more positive.

great post ,and yeah i do believe in the power of the mind and the effects on the body,if someone thinks negative more often than not they will also feel negative and this has subsequent effects on the physical side,ie research with cancer suffereres find those with a positive mental attititude outlived those that werent so positive

What about basic physic principles? The movie contradicts some of those well known "laws". I watched the movie, years ago, ironically I was studying quantum physics around that same time. It was discussed briefly in some of my courses and it the movie was not given much credit by my highly educated professors. The movie was written to bring in money, not so much to educate, or raise awareness. It was a while ago since I have watched the movie, so pardon my lack of specific examples. (I am not going to run out to rent it again just to appease you either) I do remember that you have to listen carefully to what each person would say. They would use the word "MAY" where some movie watchers would take the statement as fact, when the "professors" are pointing out an unknown and a POSSIBILITY that something could be caused by something else when it just as simply could be caused by something else.

I am angry that you insult my intelligence Faust. How dare you say that there is no way I could understand something so complex. YES, quantum physics IS complex, and I HAVE studied it! Thanks for your insult!

So if I believe you, I "gave" myself diabetes by thinking I wanted it? That is just insane!

Now, I do believe that positive thinking can give a little boost to the immune system, by a chemical process, but do I believe that thinking can cure AIDS?!!! Not physically possible. (sorry)</end quote>

There is a lot of undue hostility in your response, and I feel it's a reaction to other things and nothing I did, so I won't ask about what they may be. I didn't insult your intelligence. I was describing the very entry level of explaining the very complex processes just one film I referenced in my thread used. It uses animation and past experiments to explain entanglement, super positioning, and intention experiments. All of these things have been demonstrated in proper double blind studies, and many of their "may" examples gave citation as to who/what study/experiment they are referring to.

Baseless, venomous responses drawing subversive motive conclusions out of thin air is a great way to get threads locked by Jeanne. Where did I say "You gave yourself diabetes"? My point of this thread is that there is actual science demonstrating how we are all connected, and how consciousness experiences have been shown to affect actual physical matter. I had an interest in possible applications of the findings for cystic fibrosis, of how focused intention can alter bacterial growth.

I think you should think about where your stressors and negative emotions are coming from that facilitates you to lash out at me thinking I did/say something I didn't. Because my only purpose of this post was to show how we are all the same thing, how we all came from the same thing, how we influence each other/reality with our thoughts and emotions, and how the world would be a much better place if we didn't segregate/ostracize each other due to our perceived differences...Because as I said, we are all the same thing. In the big scheme of things, we aren't individuals, we are one large mass.

@blondelawyer and deeznuts:

Thank you for seeing a good chunk of why I posted this. Look. We got CF due to the passing down of a mutation from our parents. That mutation was passed down to them, and their parents passed it down to them, etc etc. We get diabetes due to our cells becoming more insulin resistant as a by product of our disease. For some reason, some people are thinking I am implying that if you have negative thoughts all the time you gave yourself AIDS, CF, or whatever. That is not what I said. Deeznuts did a good job pointing out the meat within the chaff of my post.

I used the What The ^%&^%*& as a reference because it is a film I watched, and knew it did a good job of explaining principles of quantum physics in a very elementary way. If I wanted a large base of people to understand and appreciate something so very complicated, why would I link a video of Professor Michiau Kaku giving a 2 hour lecture to physics grad students at Southern California University? That would be self defeating.

Our previous paradigm of seclusion and total individuality in the universe needs to change. The placebo effect works for a reason. Because our minds believe it will work. Doctors use the placebo effect as a tool in the same way. What does that say? That shows the power of belief is a very powerful thing, that has the ability to facilitate healing within ourselves. The placebo effect could be considered a working intention experiment alone. It demonstrates the minds ability to manifest a physical causation.

Do you ever remember being around someone who just exuded negativity, and if you were around them long enough, you started to feel crappy as well? Do you ever remember the same but being around someone very positive and feeling good as well? How about for no reason, out of the blue you start thinking very strongly of someone and wanting to talk to them, and then all of a sudden they are calling you?

What about the power of negative stress and how "it can kill"? Our doctors know this and preach this, yet they aren't willing to concede that there is something much more to it? Attitude plays a HUGE part in our health because our minds are powerful, and have been shown to influence reality, even if on just a quantum/micro level. I personally refuse to let CF get the better of me. I laugh constantly, and try to surround myself with positive happy people who don't cause undue negative drama in my life. Does this mean I will live forever with CF? No. It will eventually kill me off like it will the rest of you guys (barring a cure). But I strongly believe that surrounding yourself in positivity helps to greatly lessen the severity of my symptoms.

Things work like a pendulum. Equal opposite reaction, etc. If you agree with me that negative stress manifests itself within the body in unwanted harmful ways (like all doctors do now), and agree that there is a positive for every negative for reality to exist, then you already agree with me on my points
