I can't wait to see it! I wonder though, about them never showing vests or breathing treatments or anything on tv or movies -what crappy research depts do these studios/writers have? I mean , really!</end quote>

Ok, finally got to see it... I'm sorry Rebecca, but I have to say it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

So inaccurate... I know people that take more medicines than she did that DON'T have CF. (she had a tiny bag of medicines she tossed in her suitcase and is NEVER seen taking ANY medicine ever) None of it was realistic in the least... I mean I liked the part where she was talking to the girl in the hospital, I can tolerate that being a little "out of date" for the story's sake. Also, it used to be true. (kind of funny I mentioned that in my earlier post, and then it's in the movie)

None of the other stuff was even close to reality though. The RT giving her CPT was like... patting her on the back for a job well done or something, I have no idea what he was doing. She also disappeared for some vague amount of time to go into the hospital ... and tune ups are generally 7-10++ days... I think her boyfriend in the movie would have cared a little bit more than he did.

I guess the point of the movie was to say "live life to the fullest" blah blah, but she just came across as being deceitful and fake. I don't know anyone that hides their disease to the extent she did, especially not to significant others. It was really annoying for me to watch her be such an *****. I hope people watching it don't get the wrong impression about cystics (or people with serious illnesses in general) or think that CF is something you can ignore/lie about and pretend it's not there...

So that is my very unofficial review - they need to research more next time, and the movie might have half a chance. Thumbs down.

Should we somehow indicate in the title of this thread that we have some spoilers going on in here? I am trying to resist coming back to this thread as I don't want the movie ruined for me before I actually get to see it...

Ok I finished watching it last night. I am not going to critique the overall film part of it but I think Taryn Manning was a pretty good CF'er..she had quite a raspy voice and definitely was as hyper and as crazy as any CF patient I know. Now all of the medical stuff was quite off and the one night tune up was uh different...

Of course it's Hollywood so they had to probably squeeze and cut a lot of details about actual CF care out of there. The message was there and I'm cool with some CF publicity.

Sevenstars--I did just hear about and meet the brother of a guy witch CF who is 52 but is a touring professional saxaphone player...nobody throughout his career knew he had CF. Only one of his close friends on tour knew and of course his family. He is waiting on a double lung transplant now and the cat's out of the bag but some people can keep it quite a secret eh.

Yeah, if you are relatively healthy, it's easy to keep a secret. I kept it a secret from everyone but my closest friends until my college years. Then I would disappear for weeks (months) at a time, and I really had no choice but to tell them. I guess that's what bugged me about what she did in the movie - she outright lied about where she was. It wasn't like she was super healthy and didn't need tune ups... though hers were suspiciously 1 day in length...

I do remember reading about this one woman that didn't even tell her husband to be that she had CF until they were engaged or something like that, which seems crazy to me.
