I use to be an EMT and we have no computer access on the rigs.

It would be great for the ER but the EMT's and Paramedics who would be the first to respond would not be able to get to the information.

Also, if looking at a cell phone for contact information, we would always look for the numbers that said ICE (In Case of Emergency). My house phone, and hubbys cell phone numbers have ICE next to them on my cell phone.

I have a really cute Medical alert bracelet... I love it looks like a tennis bracelet but it has all my medical information on it.

Also if you want to be sure a hospital sees your wallet card, tape it to your insurance card or Drivers liscense... In every emergency that I am in, in the ER, our registration clerks are like animals digging threw wallets to find insurance cards, anything attached to that will be found for sure..

I don't have one yet, but have been looking to buy one..funny you should post this! I do however have my contact numbers on my cell phone (ICE) as well as a typed up medlist with my past medical history as well as surgical histories, allergies (really important as I am allergic to several meds), contacts, code status, note of an existing advanced directive, the companies where I get my nebulized meds, DME companies etc and treating doctors. Anytime I am admitted to the hospital, I just hand one of my lists to them and they are forever grateful (I would be too..my handwriting is terrible). When it is time to discharge me, all they have to do to continue my nursing services and PT is look for the contact person and number, no hunting for them! I carry this list with me at all times.
Thanks for the reminder! Hugs, Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
