Private hospital generally have something called Urgent Care. Although they can tend to many needs, they cant address more critical problems and they are not required to provide care as an ER.

That's absolutely not true. Federal law prohibits ER's from turning away anyone. That's why our ER's are damn full in LA.... those who are here and breaking the law are treated just the same as those who are citizens.

</end quote></div>

So does Federal Law prohibit hospital ambulances from driving people down to Skid Row and dropping them off? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am on the anti-socialized medicine side with you Amy but just because Federal Law prohibits something from happening doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Wanna know about greece? You sure dont. Here thing are sucks.Though many greeks suffer from CF and some dont even know!If you ask a doctor what CF is maybe he tells you he has no idea....There are no private clinics and only two or three hospitals all over the country have special sections for cf.Of course when you have to be hospitalized you stay with people that can have ANY disease and they might give you any bug....This is so sad.We additionally pay lots of money for all the medicine and TOO much paperwork every month. You have to prove you are not an elephant!
Thank God my doctors are not just well educated about cf but GREAT people (they even called to ask how did i do with my exams to college!)and scientists and they treat me perfecty with the best and newest medicine. But still there are people that suffer more because their doctors have no idea how to treat cf...And this IS sad

Sakasuka:

You have not been fully informed!!! Read the attached article posted on CBS News web site 5/17/07. Or just Google "Kaiser dumps patients on skid row"

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/17/60minutes/main2823079.shtml

</a>
Kaiser has been dumping homeless and poor people on skid row in LA for some time. It seems the law has finally caught up with them.

Sakasuka, how would you cover the more than 40 million un-insured people in this country, (many of whom are children), with health care? Would you have them continue to go without?

You generally have a lot of very helpful things to say on this site for the most part but I am also often impressed with your obvious biased towards big Pharma and your rather Right leaning opinions that stand out in your comments.

You should make it clear to people by stating up front that you are a current or former employee of the Pharmaceutical industry, a card carrying Republican and that you whole heartedly support our current Fascist government. If you put this little piece of biographical info at the top of your posts people would have a much clearer sense of who you are and what you stand for.

Health care for all is something this government should be committed to and if our current crop of legislators is not up to the task of figuring out the best way to do it I will personally do everything in my power to vote them out of office and replace them with people with the courage and compassion to do it.

I financially supported five key democrats across the country that ran against the republican establishment last fall and they all won. I also write letters and send emails to congressmen and senators on a regular basis in regards to important issues facing our country.

I have great health care coverage right now! The state of California covers me with its GHPP (Genetically Handicapped Persons Program) coverage. That's right a state government funded and run program!! It often isn't the most responsive health care I have received but the care is excellent none the less.

Sakasuka, don't you live in California and have GHPP? We all need to stand up for what we feel is right!! You have strong opinions about things but people can be mislead by your words. Full disclosure would go a long way in making things clear to people!!

Sincerely:
PeterC 58/CF
