Your job is to protect your daughter, so that means keeping her away from anything that could compromise her health. Perhaps you reacted a little more strongly than the situation deserved, but I'm of the opinion that a mom should be fierce when it comes to protecting her kid from bad elements. I think you have a right to be upset. You might catch some flak from the in-laws, but if they give you grief, just say your daughter's health comes first and that means no contact with people who might have a cold, let alone HIV.</end quote>

Thank you for this response. As you will see others are completely missing what I'm saying at least you understand. It's not just HIV...they fail to tell us when any of the adults or children are sick until we get there and they are coughing, sneezing and running fevers.

Okay, if you weren't overreacting before, you are now. Jessi can't predict the future, but chances are, CF will kill your daughter. I'm not saying she'll be 25, but whenever she does die, barring some weird accident or other illness, CF will kill her. I suggest you accept that as soon as possible.

You are correct, you can't catch cancer... but the chances of her getting HIV from her aunt kissing her on the cheek are minimal at best. Chill out. I understand the being wary of bugs an HIV patient may have, but it sounds as if you wouldn't act the same around a cancer patient, and that is discriminatory. They both have the ability to carry bugs that may harm a CFer.

CF will not necessarily kill any of us. We could get in a car accident or some other accident and die. Everyone that has CF isn't guaranteed that will be their cause of death. So no one with the disease has to accept they will die from it

a wierd accident has nothing to do with CF. so you're saying that if I get hit by a car or lightning strikes I die because of complications with CF. didn't know lightning and CF had anything in common.
