Don't you have to be at least 35 to run for president? Or is it 40? I can't remember. Either way... a lot of us don't live that long. Most of those that do are dealing with a whole load of crap that would get in the way of their running a country. Not to mention I highly doubt the majority of the US population would vote for someone with a terminal illness, knowing they were going to be chronically ill... It gets in the way of such an important job (much like Bush's chronic stupidity gets in the way of his performing his job properly).

I'm not picking on you specifically, that one thing just stuck out to me as kind of ironic. I wanted to agree, in my own smart@ss words, with Allie, Karen, Amy, Kylie, and whoever else.

<b>Ahahahaa, I'm an idiot. You said <i>not</i>. I'm still going to leave this here though, because I like it.</b>

<i>Oh and... I wanted to throw this in too:</i>

As much as we would like to think we have control of our lifes, we really don't. Not to get all theological or philosophical, but I think things happen because most of the time they are God's will.</end quote></div>

That's <b>very</b> much a matter of opinion. All I wanted to say. *shrug*

It's a personal decision. My husband and I have personally decided that we will not have children at all. CF already has so many mutations and complications that we feel it's irresponsible of us to put yet another genetic "flavor" into the world, possibly delaying that ever elusive cure for CF.

Not many people agree with our decision, but for us it's the responsible and most rational one.

There are plenty of children in this world who need a loving, safe family and a stable homelife. If you are the type of family who has so much love that it needs to have somewhere to go but aren't sure if "fusing your own genetic material" is the way to go, please consider adoption.

Very few decisions in life are black and white, and this is probably one of the weightier ones. Please, bring all your wisdom to bear on this matter and bathe it in as much thoughtfulness and rational thinking as you can. Do what's right.

Best wishes.

I agree with 2perfectboys. It is God's will. He has a plan for our life and our children's. For us it was to have a son with CF. I can't be angry about it or ask why or else I'd be miserable and my son would see that. I try to bring Darin up to be positive about CF. Sure it might progress for him who knows. I try not to let that consume our lives and not ot worry. I have said before to that there seems to be a lot of therapies coming up through the pipelines and gene therapy hopefully will hit the US soon. Be encouraged everyone!

This "reasoning" fails 100% of the time when you're talking to atheists. If I remember correctly, your god also gave you free will, which puts the ball into your court.

So Emily, u would never vote for someone that had AIDS?</end quote></div>

I'm not saying what *I* would or wouldn't do. I said... and I quote:
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Not to mention I highly doubt the majority of the US population would vote for someone with a terminal illness</end quote></div>
Notice the part that says "The majority of the US population."
