nutritionally, i'm hooked on some anti-inflammatory vitamins and supplements that you can pick up at your local Whole Foods. Currently, I take:

--tumeric
--fish oil
--flaxseed oil
--plus a whole slew of vitamins! i definitely recommend it.

For my allergies I get a weekly shot of a serum tailored specifically for my allergic reactions. It really works wonders and since I started over a year ago I've had incredible relief, even when spending time outdoors with the pollen & grasses & .... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

A few things to consider:

1. Switch to Allegra and take 180mg 2 or 3 times a day. Many allergists do this (but don't do this with zyrtech cuz it makes patients sleepy if you take more than 10mg) to stamp up allergies

2. Consider HEPA air filters to control allergens in the air in your bedroom (where you spend 1/3 of your life and perhaps more if you do meds in there)

3. Consider other environmental controls such as dust mite covers on the pillows on your bed, mattress, etc. Putting anti-dust mite powder on your carpet (or removing it all together). I am a MESS if i don't sleep with these things. I get wheezy, SOB, and my chest gets tight.

4. Get tested for down allergies. Remove down comforter if you are allergic

5. Keep your windows closed AT ALL TIMES and run your air conditioner if it gets hot. This keeps out pollen from outdoors

6. Consider allergy shots. They have helped many many people

7. Remove flowers/plants. They shoot pollen into the air in your house which is excessively counter productive.

8. Wash bed sheets 2x a week if not more to remove dust mites

9. Eat lots of anti-inflammatory foods such as cherries, blueberries, etc

10. Consider taking NAC. It's an incredible anti-inflammatory

11. Remove carpeting and go with hardwood or vinyl floors instead, if you have allergies (especially if you have pets!)
