Hi everyone, here is my update...

I upped my prednisone and went on my trial medicine. The prednisone helped a lot but I am still no where near where I need to be, or even at a point I can handle. Basically, I am going to up all medicine to get me through the next 9 days and then go immediately on IVs.

I did talk about home IVs but it is very hard to teach and have IVs. When I did them last time I know that I did not do the best I could have and am back here again. I talked with my fellow teachers and they are going to basically take most of my classes while i am there so I get credit for coming but do not over exert myself.

If I am not better at all by next Friday then I am going to take a medical leave and will go into the hospital. I know in a perfect world I would be on IVs now but I also need the time to break all this to my students. They know nothing and we are a very attached group.

Thank you all for your help. I was nervous coming back because it had been so long but I now know I shouldn't have been. This has made me feel so so much better about a lot of things

So what's the status on a job for next year? I know that just because they can't fire you this year for not working that not having tenure could mean being without a job for next year. Have you gotten a contract yet or do they pink slip you and then hire you back later in the summer? I've had that happen for a couple of years, but luckily I have tenure now. Also, was this an unusually sick year for you or are you often out a lot for treatments? I really hope that everything works out for you.

Firstly a doc shouldn't keep you from going on IVs because you were on them 2 months ago they should only keep you from taking IVs if you are not sick.

Also I wanted to put this out there I do not know what you culture - bacteria wise - I just know for me when I had a bad flare up with my MRSA pre transplant my mucus would taste horrible. It was so bad I would gag and feel like I was going to vomit before I could actually spit it out. I never had that when my Psuedo would flare up it was always with the MRSA. Again not trying to say that you have MRSA just saying dependant on what bacteria you culture that may be why your mucus is tasting nasty.

I would also get kind of nauseous when I would get flare ups - like someone already mentioned when you swallow mucus how I think of it is this - it goes to your stomach and eventually your body will start to digest the mucus along with the bacteria. Your body digesting and processing that bacteria can't be good and would make sense that you would feel nauseous and all.

Either way I would talk to the doc and tell them you need some meds and from there I would just try to feel better.

Good Luck and I do hope you start feeling better.

Hi Sue,

I will add to everyone else's comments..

You say you have a sinus infection, are you seeing an ENT ? Is the ENT doing a nasal scope & getting a culture from your nasal passages ???

Nothing bugs me more than being on abx for a long period of time only to find out that i was taking something that wasn't covering the bug

Sinus infections can be very stubborn & could take several weeks to clear up..

Hope you feel better & glad you came in for support Let us know how you are doing ..
