What to feed a 1 yr old?

DS had texture issues at that age -- no toast, no bread, no ground beef, no chunks... so I was STILL feeding him baby food mac & cheese (stage 2), fruit and oatmeal with pears. Otherwise he acted like he had a hairball. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> He LOVED spagettios and I could get smaller cans with a pop top for travel. He did like mac & cheese at that time (hates it now). Ditto on the yo baby. Carnation instant breakfast (creamy milk) made with one package of powder, 3 cups milk and an ounce of cream -- nowdays he drinks fully leaded Carnation instant breakfast.

I could also get him to eat canned chicken and dumplings, chicken ala king as long as I removed any big chunks. He ate ham patties -- we'd just hand him one and he'd gnaw on it. Hotdog -- sliced length-wise into strips. Around that time we also introduced him to mcdonalds -- and he wouldn't touch the bread, but he'd eat a plain hamburger patty.

I just remember going on vacation and him eating spagettios for lunch and dinner -- every single meal.

It's been a long time since my CFer was a toddler, but he is still a picky eater. He really just has trouble with his appetite. Here are a few things I still feed him when he won't eat anything else.

mashed pot & gravy
pancakes w/peanut butter & syrup
ice cream

note: Anytime we were at grandma's house, he would eat for her. I guess everything tastes better when grandma makes it.

Anyway, you might check out the nutrition section. There is an entire recipe section there and another thread on this very topic.

Good luck!

edited to add: fish sticks is another thing I give him. Also, in response to your question about how much to feed your child; I would feed as much as he will eat. Maybe have snacks available even during play times, so it doesn't take him away from his toys. Hope that helps.

Whole Milk with Nestle Quik is what Avery loved at 1, but she has grown out of the Mac and Cheese wth everything. But whole milk got her weight up quit a bit, she is 3 and weighs 38 lbs. She was doing about 3-4 8oz a day, now she is down to 1-2.
