Are you guys serious about the hospital food thing? Because after the first few days, when the doctors have to get everyone involved to get their act together, the food is awesome. If you come in my room, it resembles the Last Supper. I get at least 2 pizzas brought up from the kitchen every meal, and a cafeteria pass that totals $10! Those doctors really are about fattening you up, but you have to open your mouth; if you keep quiet and don't say anything, they won't either. You can't rely on other people to help you, you have to take the first step in helping yourself.

IMO, call the clinic back and ask that a nurse call you back, don't even deal with the receptionist. We've had to do that a few times with the local peds department -- one of the receptionists has a bit of an attitude.

Or you could try going to urgent care or the ER -- realize you probably don't want to do so with all the stuff going around -- but a doctor there might have a little more clout with the CF clinic in terms of being able to get you in sooner, though you could also end up getting admitted...

If I am on a new antibiotic my doctors like me to stay in the hospital for at least 3-5 days, to make sure I will not have a negative reaction. Then, if it appears I will be ok, they send me home for the rest of the time.
Kind of a happy medium.

Haha, my room is the same way. I think I eat better in the hospital than at home. I usually GAIN at least 5-10 lbs in there, just chugging down burgers, fries and pizza. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I totally agree with Jessi - don't ever bother with the receptionist unless it's a normal appointment. Go straight to the clinic nurse and tell her you're sick and NEED IVs and NEED to be seen. And when you talk to you doc give him a giant list of the "stay at home pro's" we mentioned here. He can't say no!!
