I dont think you understood what i meant....... My Dr always ordered double portions etc......Unfortunately the food in the one hospital was so horrible i literally saw the mashed potatoes make a second appearance....lol
What i did then was have a mini fridge in my room and have my family and friends bring me food. Eggs in a hospital arent even eggs, they are like that egg beaters crap with no taste. The breakfast sausages tasted like cardboard meat. The Dr. can only do so much when the food itself is terrible. I always have the nutritionist come to my room anytime i am in the hospital, to make sure they send me my favorites, but unfortunately even they were terrible. They always gave me any thing or any amount i wanted, but the food itself was terrible.
The last hospital i was in ( in 2006) for my third embolization ,had pretty decent food, which was a total surprise. They sent up a menu and you call your order in for meals. I liked that a lot, but no matter what .... theres no place like home.

Sonia,
So sorry you're having trouble with your clinic. I'm at National Jewish in Denver and they're really good at being flexible when it comes to finishing up IVs at home. I know a good handful of patients there who do almost all of their tune ups at home. The staff at Nat Jewish feel that it's a quality of life issue and if you're happier and healthier at home, then they let you stay at home. Hope everything works out!

you mentioned vegas clinic. I live in Vegas and see Angelica Honsberg and her team at UMC's Total Life Care. It's a Cystic Fibrosis clinic. Call 598-4411 and ask to speak with Nadine. only speak with her, shes the only one that knows what she's doing. I was trying to make my appointment for march and once chick kept saying that she had april 17th available and when i asked about late march she said she doesn't have the schedule for that, i was like MARCH IS BEFORE APRIL. Anyhoo, talk with her and tell her you need to get in before March for a sick visit. They should be able to squeeze you in. i've called before and they have seen me the next day. Let me know if you need anything else.

I am a patient at National Jewish but live in Montana. I have always done my IV at home - still learning what a tune up really is because I am a newbie. That said, it is a challenge for me to fully concentrate on just the tune up when I am at home. I get a lot of support from our CF Nurse Coordinators.
Lindsay, I love that photo of you!
