Severe asthma causing more trouble than typical exacerbations

I'm curious about the responses you get too. My inflammatory response post exacerbation is often as bad breathing-wise as the exacerbation, even though the mucus looks better. I'm on Symbicort and Singulair, and I try to eat all the good-for-asthma foods: fish, turmeric, green beans. Check...

    Cipro and anxiety and depression

I'm sorry you had such a rough night. My sympathies. I can see how quinolones plus weaning off lexapro might be an issue. Quinolones give me insomnia, anxiety and ankle pain. My last course was last spring, and I even had some sleep-paralysis that time--waking up from dreams (evil feeling...

    gatorade ingredient in the news

Gatorade is no longer going to use this ingredient. Fyi. http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/25/gatorade-listens-to-a-teen-and-changes-its-formula/?ref=health Jenn, So cool that you make your own ice cream! I've been getting good at homemade frosting. I prefer the taste of...

    candida kefyr

Love, My thrush is somewhere i can't see but scopes do. Lower throat? I've no problem swallowing from it. But postnasal drip can make swallowing hard for me...i try to "snork" it loose and swallow it. It gets stuck. I use the nasal wash and let it pour down instead of out my nostrils sometimes...

HELP - Daughter can't breath after 2.5 minute competitive cheer routine-what to do?

Swatterson, Hi, did you get an interpretation from your cardiologist on your daughter's tests? I hope she is doing well. I posted about my issues in the adults section in a thread keyword "hypotension". I am curious how your daughter's testing is proceeding and what you are learning. Melissa

postural hypotension anyone?? (big drop in bp from lying/sitting to standing)

Well, I had my "further testing" and need further testing. The echo (ultrasound of heart) showed light pulmonary hypertension, which the dr said makes sense with chronic lung infections. I'm a bit weirded out, though, because I thought my high PFTs, though admittedly not crazy high like...

    candida kefyr

Kaylinsmom, thanks for replying. So your daughter was growing the yeast in her stomach/esophagus? My culture was sputum, but I guess the yeast could come from my throat too. I know drs doing 'scopies of any sort always mention a "big patch of thrush" back there that I can't see and don't feel.

What does 7t, 7t mean? Also, advice on missing school.

I missed 20+ days each yr of middle school and stayed on top of assignments/got good grades. Unless your daughter is falling behind, i wouldn't pull her out. And if she is falling behind, you don't have to pull her out. The school should work with you.

    candida kefyr

Anyone else grow this? Last time i was sick, my dr had me do a culture. I respond to orals, but because my last last ct scan had a bunch of nodules/opacities, we're kinda wondering if MAC or aspergillus will eventually pop up. I've grown m. Gordonae here and there, and "rare yeasts" which...

PFT's are down for no real reason

Love, Normal is 80-120% because there is variation in organ size and elasticity even at the same height, gender and age. So a downward change IS a negative because it represents an increase in obstruction/restriction relative to previous function. That said, starting higher IS reassuring...

    Best Exercises for arthritis

From my experience with individual, not multiple, swollen joints (ankle & elbow tendinitis, bursitis-shoulder), I would suggest strength training to support the joints and limited repetitions or impact. I think I've heard that water exercise is beneficial, too. When my shoulder was at it's...

    inhaled levofloxacin

Here's what I gleaned from the article. Seems like good news to me, though not outrageously good--like PA obliteration. :-) ---Aeroquin was comparable or superior (aka not inferior) to inhaled tobramycin in terms of FEV1 at the end of each of three study periods (total of 168 days)...

Women-- Where to do find jeans??

One of my favorite pairs of jeans are Old Navy "Diva" bootcut dark wash. It's lower rise than Sweetheart, but I can bend over with no exposure. That said, I'm pretty dependent on long tanks tops that cost about $7 at Old Navy. I wear them under regular shirts, and they provide extra coverage...

postural hypotension anyone?? (big drop in bp from lying/sitting to standing)

Giving an update: The cardiologist offered me a couple of meds or the wait and see approach for my intense head rushes. I'm doing the latter for now. Also, he explained i should clench my butt cheeks when i stand up :). This i guess helps keep the blood upstream. Apart from that, my ekg had an...

At The End Of My Rope & Need Some Advice Please

(((Hugs))) Like others who have responded, I think you need to explore a CF diagnosis as deeply as possible, and also PCD and immunodeficiency. In my case, I've been to a CF Center and National Jewish, and I don't have CF or PCD or immune deficiencies. I have bronchiectasis, allergies and...
