Brigham and Womens transplant program

Well, I'm off to Brigham this month to start my eval or at least get pre-approved for an eval. Looks like this is the place to be for us 20% PFTers. I am down in the lower 20s as well. I consider myself doing well all considering. I still work full time and putter around the house with my...

    Hospitals

    Amy,

Midline is shorter, from your elbow up to almost top of your shoulder.

I was told midlines are "normally" good for 4 to 6 weeks depending on each individual. I went through a bad stretch and had a midline in for 8 weeks and it still was looking pretty good when they took...

    Cipro making me sick

I have always been told/read don't eat anything with Calcium within a couple hours before or after taking Cipro as it binds to the drug and it is not effective. I assume you are drinking lots of water as well? This may help.

Brian

    Stopping TOBI

Jennifer, I have read some about the powder tobi, it sounds interesting because it takes so much less time to do. Lets hope it is as effective for those who still benefit from it. I believe this is being done by the same drug company that makes Tobi. Picking up on Kelly's comments, this is...

    OO and Probiotics

For those who have researched OO, I was wondering if you think that taking probiotics while taking OO is a waste since the OO seems to kill lots of things, thinking that the OO may just kill the good stuff in probiotics. Just wondering if anyone had an opinion or knowledge on this.

Brian

    Stopping TOBI

    Hi Kelly,

Interesting to read your point about Tobi. I have been having the same thoughts and planning to tell my doctor I want to stop it for awhile while I am feeling good. I have been showing resistant to Tobra for last year, but my doc has said the same things. I guess when they...

    Exercise ball w/vest

I was doing my vest tonight and decided to try a few things new. I have one of these large exercise balls. I have used it before to sit on while doing the vest to keep my abs engaged. Decided to experiment... A bit tricky because of the vest hose length, but I was able to lie on my back...

    asthma spirometer

I have one of these as well. It ranges between 400 and 600, for me. I am not sure it really tells much, except if you are sick, it is low, which is pretty darn obvious.

    Question

Definitely want to cough those up. If you have not tried Hypertonic Saline, give it a try. This helps me at least cough more (a lot) up during treatments and now practically zero during the day.

Brian

Fairly new to site & questions about Tobi

<begin quote>Originally posted by: anonymous According to the product literature the only compressor that they recommend for Tobi is the Devilbiss. Your current regimen. (work oriented)

    Sean,

I have been asking myself many similar questions as you are and what prompted my recent post asking about the Pari eflow, which is suppose to drastically cut down on neb times. Since I have added Hypertonic Saline it is putting me over the edge. In the mornings now I have...

    Pari eflow

I know this is used as part of the Aztreonam study, but just wondering if anyone is using it for any other nebs and if so which ones? Also any info on how well it works would be interesting as well.

Thanks,
Brian
