Bad Fingernails

I like to keep my nails on the short side because they grow so darn fast.

Has anyone heard of a nail buffer that shines your nails? I have one and when you buff your nails, your nails look like you have a clear gloss on them. VERY COOL and I believe it strengthens your nails too.

When I was diagnosed with C. R. before my second transplant, my toe nails had ridges in them. Now my toe nails and all my nails are smooth with no ridges. Just an observation that I made not too long ago.

I buff my toe nails to shine... If anyone wants me to search for this nail buffer, I will. I do believe they sell them at most beauty stores.
It looks like a long block of foam with three sides that you can buff with.

Happy buffing

I went surfing for my nail buffer and I found this link to a Coughing Ashtray. How funny is that? Check it out. Great gift for a chronic smoker. Thankfully, I do not know anyone who smokes

I have one of those nail buffers. Mine is even numbered so you know what to do first. I tried it once and my nails looked like they had polish on them. They looked very nice. I just havent taken the time to do it in a while. I got mine from Wal-Mart.

btw, i like the coughing ashtray...lol

The part about the horizontal ridges/waves resulting from stress/health problems was interesting. When I had my liver infection, I got a really big "wave/bump" across my nails, that has just now grown out. I used to have smaller hortizonal waves quite often. Now they have hardly a horizontal wave at all. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

hey lisa,

i don't know if i'm any help to answer this. i never had any trouble with my nails until the last year or so. i've had horrible breaking and chipping -- i am now walking around with 3/4 of a middle toe nail. they grow fine, but then sometimes just break in places that makes them seem weak. at the time it was really bad i thought it might be b/c i'd cut out meat except chicken. but i don't know. my vitamin levels are fine and i do take calcium, although i'm not sure either of those two things really help.
