Melissa,

I am SO sorry if I offended you with my statement.

I did not have an easy time growing up and sometimes I wondered if I would make it to the age of 30. When someone asks me how old I am state quite proudly that I am 34 years old.

I did not mean an offend anyone with the statement and I apologize if I did!

Seana</end quote></div>

NO NO NO ABSOLUTELY NO OFFENSE

I am proud to be old! Hugs....

I had an IUD, didn't like the pain that came with having my periods so I got it removed. Without B/C periods were very irregular. Was on B/C for like ever, but then all of a sudden about 3 yrs ago my periods decided to come and go whenever they felt like it, if it even came at all. So 3 months ago I decided...I may not even be able to have kids, so I got a tubal ligation done. Now my periods come every 27 days, and are very very light. So I'm liking not haveing to remember to take a pill and not having to worry about "accidents", not that I'm thinking I could have any kids and it's not from the lack of trying either. Good luck with ur research!

I have taken 3 different forms of birth control - 2 different pills and now the patch.

I started taking B/C at 18 for extreme cramps - nausea, vommiting, horrendous back pain and leg cramps and all. I took Miracette or Mircette I can't remember for sure how you spell it. I took that for 3 years until I started having break through bleeding A LOT. Then I was switched to Estro-step because the doc thought that the higher dose of estrogen in the new pill would help with my periods. I ended up bleeding for about 3 weeks straight on that one and then not having my period at all for several months so I stopped taking that one and was switched to the patch about 2 years ago.

Right now I am considering changing meds cause I have been having breakthrough bleeding again with everything else that is going on with me and all the new meds. It is just a matter of finding something that my transplant docs approve and such. Also something to add - I have never had any issues with birth control effectiveness and abx usage. I don't know if the other issues I have reproductive wise are just stacking the deck against my chances or if the birth control is actually doing its job or both, but something has done a good job.

Take Care,
Lindsey

I abstained from sex before marriage. We knew that was the only fool-proof way to avoid pregnancy and STDs. I tried starting the pill several months before getting married so that by the time we did become sexually active my body would have adjusted its cycle.

The pill did not work well for me, and it caused many problems with some of the medications I was on. It also made my cycle VERY weird. I bled for 3 weeks and then was dry for only 1. I didn't want to put up with that, so I asked my doc about non-hormonal options for contraception.

I had a copper IUD put in place, and have been very happy with it. I haven't had any excessive cramping or anything like that.

We now have a permanent solution for contraception. My husband had a vasectomy in April.
