Flu vaccine?

The flu shot really is very effective. And on the occasion that someone "gets the flu anyway" there are generally three reasons:

1.Exposure to the flu virus around the time they got the flu shot. The shot did not cause the flu. Impossible.
2.The shot takes up to 4 weeks until it reaches its full effect. (So get it early in the season)
3.You happen to be the unlucky one to get a strain not covered in the shot.

The flu shot is 70 to 90 percent effective. So even if you do get the flu, it is usually much much milder.

You know I asked about the Flu Mist before seeing ya'll replies. Cause I thought/wondered the same thing. And Anna's transplant doc said it was OK for her roommate to get the flu mist that she did not have to stay away from Anna after getting it. Now I am really not sure, cause I thought I'd heard the same thing. And I saw a sign stating that those having recently received the flu mist vaccine could not enter certain wards here at the hospital and that it was not OK for hospital personnel. HMMMM! I think I'll ask again. I hope Amanda hasn't gotten it yet!

Thanks ya'll <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I got mine today! I've got it every year since I can remember. It's always around my birthday too. "Happy birthday... *flu shot*!"

Having a sore arm for a few days vs. getting the flu? Sore arm, please!
