The flu shot really is very effective. And on the occasion that someone "gets the flu anyway" there are generally three reasons:
1.Exposure to the flu virus around the time they got the flu shot. The shot did not cause the flu. Impossible.
2.The shot takes up to 4 weeks until it reaches its full effect. (So get it early in the season)
3.You happen to be the unlucky one to get a strain not covered in the shot.
The flu shot is 70 to 90 percent effective. So even if you do get the flu, it is usually much much milder.
