Tonya, we are on the 12/6 plan right now.

What we are doing is that unless one of us is staying up for other reasons I set my alarm for 11:30, get up and start Amikacin and set alarm for about 12:10. Get up, flush & swap for Timentin, set alarm for 1ish. Get up, flush & finish.

Then repeat at 5:30 which works better since I get up for work at 6.

It does impact sleep a bit, but no more than a pump going off and we can change it 90% of the time w/o disturbing him.

Note: as for air bubbles, the only air would be introduced by the pharmacist (big no-no) and there is a filter in the line to capture the air for safety purposes. The only issue is that yes, if you get occluded or forget to unclamp the picc you don't get the infusion and there is no warning.

Almost all meds can be used in this form (I have yet to hear of one that cannot).</end quote></div>

I was told that Meripenem (I think <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> ) couldnt come in the balls, but I did get it in a giant syringe that I pushed over a 10 minute period. Not a big issue really!

I think I used these for Tobra ever since I was on home IV's. I think first time was when I was 7, I'm 24 now...
I loved them. Tobra took 30 to 45 minutes with them and I had Tobra twice a day.

Had Cefta the rest of the day (continues) and that that in a Cadd Plus (later Cadd Legacy) pump that came with a special little bag that I carried around my waist. IV lines went right along my arm, under my shirt/sweater and came out underneath my shirt at my waist. Rolled the remaining tubing up and put that in the little bag with the pump. So no-one could see anything. Only the people who knew the little bag was for my IV knew I was on IV's again.
